Turner will play the lead role of Lara Croft, the titular tomb raider. The show was <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-id=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/digital\/games\/tomb-raider-tv-series-amazon-phoebe-waller-bridge-1236002408\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/digital\/games\/tomb-raider-tv-series-amazon-phoebe-waller-bridge-1236002408\/\">greenlit at Amazon earlier this year<\/a> with Phoebe Waller-Bridge set to write and executive produce under her Amazon overall deal. It was first reported as being in development at the streamer in January 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tReps for Amazon MGM Studios declined to comment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tTurner is the latest high-profile actress to take on the role of Croft, who originated in the popular \u201cTomb Raider\u201d video game series. The globetrotting adventurer was previously portrayed onscreen in two films by Angelina Jolie and in another by Alicia Vikander. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tTurner is best known for playing Sansa Stark in the HBO series \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d throughout the show\u2019s eight-season run. She received an Emmy nomination for best supporting actress in a drama for the show in 2019. She is also known for her role as Jean Grey in the later Fox X-Men films, namely \u201cX-Men: Apocalypse\u201d and \u201cX-Men: Dark Phoenix.\u201d Most recently, she starred in the ITV\/CW miniseries \u201cJoan\u201d and the Max limited series \u201cThe Staircase.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tShe is repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group, and Hansen Jacobson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe \u201cTomb Raider\u201d series is being developed under a pact between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios which comes via dj2\u2019s first-look deal with the studio to develop additional \u201cTomb Raider\u201d stories into series and films.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe series hails from Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios and Legendary Television. Executive producers include Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins through Wells Street Productions, Dmitri M. Johnson through dj2 Entertainment and Michael Scheel. Amanda Greenblatt and Ryan Andolina are consulting producers under their Star Party banner.
