Among those killed were women and children, Syrian state media added.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3hfeqcg000e3b6mcjs144ab@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The Israeli military said in a statement it was striking Islamic Jihad in Syria earlier Thursday and had \u201cinflicted significant damage to the terrorist organization\u2019s command center and to its operatives.\u201d Islamic Jihad is the second-largest militant group in Gaza.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3hfeqcg000f3b6m3nqm50t1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Syrian state media said: \u201cThe Israeli enemy launched an aerial attack from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting several residential buildings in the Mezzah neighborhood of Damascus and the Qudsaya area in the Damascus countryside.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3hfeqcg000g3b6m9rrzvnfc@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cThis resulted in the martyrdom of fifteen people and the injury of sixteen others, including women and children, as an initial toll, along with significant material damage to private property and the targeted and neighboring buildings,\u201d Syrian state media said.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3ho23eu0000356mvih6mj7h@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Islamic Jihad said the strike killed \u201ca group\u201d of its members in a statement Thursday, but did not specify how many of the militant group were killed.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3ho27c80002356ml6q08uu4@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The group denied Israel\u2019s claims that the strike \u201ctargeted military headquarters and centers belonging to the movement,\u201d and instead said the strike hit civilian institutions and residential homes.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3ho5jkq000a356m7y9mm1q7@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Syria\u2019s foreign ministry condemned the strikes on Thursday, calling them \u201cbrutal crimes,\u201d SANA reported.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3ho59ex0008356mrjpyfmj2@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The statement outlined that the attacks on Syria came just two days after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/11\/12\/middleeast\/saudi-mbs-accuses-israel-genocide-gaza-intl\/index.html\">Arab-Islamic summit<\/a> in Riyadh issued a \u201cbroad condemnation of [Israel\u2019s] brutal and escalating aggression on Syrian territory,\u201d according to SANA.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3hgnohq0000356m1j9551qj@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The latest assault come after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/11\/10\/middleeast\/lebanon-israeli-strikes-intl?cid=ios_app\">Israeli airstrikes intensified in Syria<\/a> over the weekend, killing at least seven civilians and leaving 20 injured, according to Syrian state news agency SANA.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3hgo7n20004356m11a8s4jx@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The strikes targeted a residential building in the Sayyidah Zaynab area of the Damascus countryside, with women and children among those killed, SANA said.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3hgqwgq0007356mkh1ktjod@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The Sayyidah Zaynab area, south of Damascus city, is known to have a Hezbollah presence and has come under attack from Israel in recent weeks.
