To have the resolve to take that shot and make that shot. \u2026 To have the courage to do it again, it says a lot about the team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/15\/sports\/karl-anthony-towns-ruled-out-for-knicks-rivalry-game-vs-nets\/\">Karl-Anthony Towns injured<\/a>, spectator Tom Brady <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/15\/sports\/tom-brady-booed-loudly-while-courtside-at-knicks-nets\/\">tossing footballs into the crowd<\/a> during a timeout and the court looking like a sunset to commemorate the NBA Cup, the Knicks led for all but 11.5 seconds of the final 37 minutes. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>That\u2019s when the Nets, who recovered from a 21-point deficit, took a one-point lead on Schroder\u2019s 3-pointer.<\/p>\n<p>Brunson responded on the next possession by squaring up on Nets defender Dorian Finney-Smith and igniting the crowd with his cool trey. Without a timeout, the Nets drove immediately after Brunson\u2019s shot and Bridges chased down Schroder for the biggest play of his short Knicks career. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are putting pressure on him to be perfect,\u201d Josh Hart said. \u201cThe beauty of Mikal is he\u2019s going to get out there and find ways to impact the game if he\u2019s not making shots. So we\u2019re happy for him. Got traded for five [players who aren\u2019t in the NBA yet] so we\u2019re good.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Jalen Brunson hits the game-winning 3-pointer over Dorian Finney-Smith to lead the Knicks to victory. <span class=\"credit\">Jason Szenes \/ New York Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Jalen Brunson celebrates with teammates after hitting the game-winning 3-pointer in the Knicks\u2019 win over the Nets.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Bridges, who the Knicks acquired from the Nets in the summer for a boatload of draft picks, dropped an efficient 22 points in 41 minutes, easing the criticism, though certainly not silencing it, about his rough start in Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p>Bridges also did nothing for most of the fourth quarter, pulling a Houdini until that final game-saving block on Schroder.<\/p>\n<p>The victory required clutch buckets from Brunson, who finished with 37 points in 34 minutes \u2014 including 16 points in the fourth quarter. And it needed a strong showing from OG Anunoby, the top player of this young Knicks season who controversially fouled out. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Knicks guard Jalen Brunson reacts after hitting a 3-pointer in the first half of the Knicks\u2019 win over the Nets. <span class=\"credit\">JASON SZENES FOR THE NEW YORK POST<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Anunoby defended Brooklyn\u2019s top scorer, Cam Thomas, and scored 25 points with eight boards. <\/p>\n<p>Anunoby also was the target of a furious shove by Finney-Smith, who took issue with the Knicks forward\u2019s physical attempt to get through a screen early in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Finney-Smith tossed Anunoby to the ground, then squared up like he was ready to fight. You can get frustrated and those frustrations affect your energy level, those kind of things. We\u2019ve just got to understand at the end of the day we\u2019re not going to be the best we\u2019re going to be in game 10 or game 12. That\u2019s not the goal. The goal is to be the best team we can be in the last game of the season. Hopefully that\u2019s in June, obviously. We can\u2019t get too frustrated with it. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know it\u2019s going to take time. The benefit, at least right now, the benefit of the East is that we\u2019ve been trash this first 11 games and I think we\u2019re fourth in the standings. So East got beat up a little bit early.
