Online<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><span>The Carrey family is mourning a loss.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><strong>Rita Carrey<\/strong><span>, the older sister of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/jim_carrey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Jim Carrey;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><strong>Jim Carrey<\/strong><\/a><span>, died on Nov. 14<\/span><span>, <\/span><span>her husband <\/span><strong>Alex<\/strong> <span>confirmed<\/span> <span>in a post to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ritacarrey13\/posts\/10170421594730643\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Facebook;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><span>Facebook<\/span><\/a><span> on Nov. 15.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><span>&#8220;It is with heavy heart and my deepest sadness,&#8221; he wrote on her account, &#8220;surrounded by her family and friends Rita passed away peacefully and quietly.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><span>Alex noted that while he and Rita\u2014who was born and raised in Canada\u2014had been together for 16 years, they only got married last July &#8220;in an outdoor wedding that she has always wanted.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><span>&#8220;We travelled the world and met many people who we consider friends,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;Rita was my bestest friend, my lover and my beautiful wife. Rita always had a loving soul and wanted to help everyone even total strangers.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><span>Alex also shared insight into life with his longtime love.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><span>T<\/span><span>he television and radio personality&#8217;s favorite holiday was Christmas,<\/span><span> according to her husband, and he joked<\/span><span> that<\/span><span> the holiday &#8220;<\/span><span>was everyday for her&#8221; and <\/span><span>even <\/span><span>prompted her to start &#8220;a fundraiser to help a local charity.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><strong>More from E! You really did have the Time of your life. He also asked that donations be made directly to the organization in Rita&#8217;s memory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><span>E! News has reached out to Jim for comment, but has not heard back.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><span>Rita was born to parents <\/span><strong>Kathleen<\/strong><span> and <\/span><strong>Percy<\/strong> <strong>Carrey<\/strong><span> and was one of the <\/span><em><span>Mask<\/span><\/em><span> actor&#8217;s three older siblings, which also included brother <\/span><strong>John Carrey<\/strong><span>\u2014who passed away in 2019\u2014and sister <\/span><strong>Patricia Carrey<\/strong><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><span>She worked for many years as a radio host, most recently with <\/span><em><span>The Peet and Reet Show<\/span><\/em><span> alongside <\/span><strong>Pete<\/strong> <strong>Dychtiar<\/strong><span>, and also performed in a self-titled classic rock group called the <\/span><strong>Rita Carrey Band<\/strong><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">For the latest breaking news updates, click here to download the E!
