Most of our patients don\u2019t even drink alcohol.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To emphasize how prevalent this issue has become, he shares an example from his practice. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just saw a 15-year-old kid today,\u201d he says. \u201cHe has fatty liver already. At 15! This is because he\u2019s eating Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches\u2014multiple for breakfast, multiple for dinner. That is his life, and he\u2019s getting fatty liver.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-fatty-liver-in-non-drinkers\">Fatty liver in non-drinkers<\/h2>\n<p>Dr. Ben explains how fatty liver disease, once primarily linked to alcoholism, now stems from constant spikes and crashes in blood sugar caused by poor diet choices rather than fat or alcohol consumption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen your blood sugar spikes up, you store glucose in the liver. When your blood sugar crashes down, you go hypoglycemic, and you kick it out of the liver,\u201d Dr. Ben explains in the video. \u201cEven at 15, you can already become a fatty liver person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aafp.org\/pubs\/afp\/issues\/2020\/1115\/p603.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">study<\/a>, \u201cNonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common form of liver disease in the United States, affecting up to 30% of adults.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-reverse-it\">How to reverse it<\/h2>\n<p>Dr. Ben recommends using a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), a device often used by diabetics, to track blood sugar levels throughout the day and keep them stable.<\/p>\n<p>To combat fatty liver disease, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/how-to-clean-a-fatty-liver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Healthline<\/a> recommends focusing on reducing saturated and trans fats in your diet, and incorporating regular physical activity. Additionally, cutting back on alcohol, even if excessive alcohol consumption isn\u2019t the cause of your fatty liver, can significantly improve liver health.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the video, many viewers shared their own experiences. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got rid of mine. Fasting and cut seed oils,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Another pointed out, \u201cHigh fructose corn syrup is the biggest problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got it from years of keto diet.
