All the way back in 2019 we knew of the B389 codename, and there were <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2019\/04\/17\/find-my-iphone-revamp\/\">numerous references <\/a>within iOS 13, and leaks to support it.<\/p>\n<p>The new <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3OxXnEx\">AirTag<\/a> model is codenamed B589, and according to Bloomberg, it\u2019s \u201cprogressed in manufacturing tests.\u201d This means the product will soon be coming to market, with three decent improvements:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Better range<\/li>\n<li>Improved wireless chip<\/li>\n<li>Improved privacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Better range and an improved wireless chip make sense, and were likely givens. However, it\u2019s good to see that Apple will be focusing on privacy. <\/p>\n<p>Gurman makes reference to the fact that a number of people have <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2022\/08\/11\/airtag-stalker\/\">used the device for stalking<\/a>, and some have even modified <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3OxXnEx\">AirTags<\/a> to completely disable the speaker.
