The FOX Forecast Center says that since the start of November, 3-12 inches of rain has fallen across the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">It has certainly helped the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/drought\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drought<\/a> situation, but more rain has forecasters concerned that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/7-facts-you-should-know-about-flash-floods\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flash flooding<\/a> could occur.<\/p>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\">Winter storm to impact Thanksgiving travel<\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The FOX Forecast Center says that the second storm could have a more widespread impact, especially as people plan on traveling ahead of Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">A powerful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/why-is-atmospheric-pressure-so-important-to-the-forecast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">low pressure<\/a> system is expected to form in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/ohio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ohio<\/a> River Valley and Great Lakes region and will rapidly develop as the first storm system exits the U.S. to the north into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/canada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canada<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The FOX Forecast Center says that this new low will significantly intensify as it spins over the Great Lakes later this week, bringing the threat of high winds across the region into the eastern U.S.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">As the storm drifts off into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/mid-atlantic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mid-Atlantic<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/northeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northeast<\/a> toward the end of the week, trailing winds are expected to bring in enough cold air to support a large band of snow somewhere in the Ohio River Valley.<\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/Northeast%20Snow%20QPF.png\"\/><figcaption>This graphic shows the forecast snow totals this week.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The coldest air will be on the southern side of the system and blow into the Appalachian Mountains.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">It\u2019s that area, the FOX Forecast Center said, that snowfall is possible across portions of the inland Ohio Valley, the northern mid-Atlantic, and the interior Northeast by the end of the week into the weekend.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">However, forecasters say there is still substantial uncertainty about the amount of cold air available for snow.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">There\u2019s also the threat of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/lake-effect-snow-science-explainer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lake-effect snow<\/a>, but will be hit-or-miss depending on how the low pressure system tracks, the FOX Forecast Center added.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">As it stands now, the air may be too warm to support lake-effect snow, but be sure to download the free <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FOX Weather app<\/a> and enable notifications to be alerted to any changes in the forecast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1660802\">\r\n<\/div>\r\n<script>(function(w,q){w[q]=w[q]||[];w[q].push([\"_mgc.load\"])})(window,\"_mgq\");\r\n<\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/winter-storms-us-thanksgiving-travel-week\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A powerful winter storm is set to blast portions of the U.S. with heavy snow, frigid temperatures, strong winds and rain just as millions of people across the country get &hellip;
