Pick a country. Any one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWashington continued, \u201cIt\u2019s all politics. All promises unkept. And now with the information age the way it is \u2014 if anything \u2014 left, right, whatever had better learn how to use those tools to manipulate the people. There was a great line in the first movie I did, [1981\u2019s] \u2018Carbon Copy\u2019: \u2018Power to the people? Yeah, they had it once \u2014 it was called the Stone Age.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHe added, \u201cWe\u2019re all slaves to information now. We really are. We\u2019re all slaves. So whatever you feel about the leaders, like this guy\u2019s crazy or the other one is sane, you\u2019d better realize you\u2019re being manipulated by both sides. Period.\u201d Washington ended the thought by saying, \u201cYeah. So go to the movies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tElsewhere in his interview with The Sunday Times, Washington reminisced on his career and the failures and successes that came with it. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cAfter\u00a0[1992\u2019s]\u00a0\u2018Malcolm X\u2019\u00a0I made some real clunkers. Look them up \u2014 I won\u2019t say their names,\u201d Washington said. \u201cThey are all in the 1990s. But I was earning. I had responsibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHe also reflected on his acting career in the 2000s, when he worked films like 2000\u2019s \u201cThe Hurricane\u201d and 2001\u2019s \u201cTraining Day\u201d \u2014 the latter of which earned him his second Academy Award. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cSo, 2000 \u2026\u201d he pondered. \u201cWell, in life, you learn, earn and then you return \u2014 as in give back. So if your life is 90 years long, up until 30 you learn and from 30 to 60 you earn. So in that era I was earning.
