His disappearance led to <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/police-confirm-human-head-found-on-key-biscayne-beach-belongs-to-missing-swimmer\/\">an unsuccessful search<\/a> by local officials and the U.S. Coast Guard, media outlets reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">Meanwhile, a man\u2019s head was found Nov. 12 by a beach worker in Key Biscayne, the barrier island just off Miami. On Friday, the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner confirmed that the human remains were those of Castaneda. A cause and manner of death have not been released.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">Castaneda and his sister were swimming at Miami Beach&#8217;s South Point Beach when a rip current caught them. A bystander went into the water and rescued the girl but when that person went back to help Castaneda, <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcmiami.com\/news\/local\/head-found-on-key-biscayne-beach-was-swimmer-who-drowned-after-saving-sister\/3473502\/\">he was nowhere to be found<\/a>, family members said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">On Saturday, family and friends gathered at the beach for a memorial service to celebrate the young man&#8217;s life. Two Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue boats fired water cannons in an honorary show, <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/local\/community\/miami-dade\/miami-beach\/article295552964.html\">the Miami Herald reported.<\/a> Wearing \u201cForever 19\u201d shirts, Castaneda&#8217;s sisters told news outlets they were grateful for the outpouring of support for their family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">\u201cHe would have loved to see how many people have come and come together and love him wholeheartedly,\u201d Castaneda\u2019s sister, Chloe, <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/news\/south-florida-victor-castaneda-jr-missing-swimmer-head-washed-up-key-biscayne\/\">told WBFS-TV.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">\u201cMy brother was an amazing, amazing person and to know him was to love him,\u201d added his other sister, Jessica. \u201cHe couldn\u2019t have been more perfect.
