Trump also reportedly bristled at Lutnick\u2019s performance as transition chief, believing that he may have manipulated the effort to benefit himself. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Lutnick is the preferred candidate of Elon Musk and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who publicly threw their weight behind the candidate over the weekend. Business-as-usual is driving America bankrupt, so we need change,\u201d Musk wrote in a post on Saturday morning, hours before he would sit beside the president-elect at Madison Square Garden for a UFC event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Kennedy, Trump\u2019s pick for Secretary of Health and Human Services, also backed Lutnick in <a onclick=\"_sendArticleBodyInlineLinkClickAnalytics('https:\/\/x.com\/RobertKennedyJr\/status\/1857844634879152540')\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RobertKennedyJr\/status\/1857844634879152540\"><u>his own post<\/u><\/a>, citing his support for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Unlike many other traditional finance companies, Cantor Fitzgerald has embraced crypto, announcing the launch of <a onclick=\"_sendArticleBodyInlineLinkClickAnalytics('https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2024\/07\/27\/wall-streets-cantor-fitzgerald-to-open-bitcoin-financing-lending-business\/')\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2024\/07\/27\/wall-streets-cantor-fitzgerald-to-open-bitcoin-financing-lending-business\/\"><u>Bitcoin financing services<\/u><\/a> at the Bitcoin Conference in July.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Sources told the <i>Times <\/i>that Trump was also considering former Federal Reserve Gov. Kevin Warsh and Apollo Global Management CEO Marc Rowan for the job. Two other candidates\u2014billionaire hedge fund manager <a with the decision-making process told the <a onclick=\"_sendArticleBodyInlineLinkClickAnalytics('https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/3c98661c-8b8b-4c84-b32a-611c1c59dd1b')\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/3c98661c-8b8b-4c84-b32a-611c1c59dd1b\"><i><u>Financial Times<\/u><\/i><\/a><i> <\/i>that Trump\u2019s advisors are seeking assurances from the candidates that they would commit to the president-elect\u2019s plans to enact significant tariffs\u2014a centerpiece of his economic agenda that he previewed frequently on the 2024 campaign trail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Sources also said a dark horse candidate might yet emerge, with several naming Robert Lighthizer, the former U.S. Trade Representative during Trump\u2019s first term, as a potential candidate. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Trump is also considering appointing Lighthizer, a major tariff proponent who helped wage his trade war with China during his first term, as a
