This comes as millions of people across the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S.<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/prepare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prepare<\/a> to hit the road and pack airports ahead of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/thanksgiving\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thanksgiving<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The first storm system is already underway across the central U.S., where it unleashed rounds of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/severe-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe weather<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Severe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/thunderstorms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thunderstorms<\/a> packed damaging wind gusts that blew over tractor-trailers, dropped large <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/hail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hail,<\/a> and even produced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/tornadoes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tornadoes<\/a> that impacted the region at the start of the workweek.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The storm system is now continuing on its journey to the north, where the FOX Forecast Center says it will begin to pull in frigid arctic air from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/canada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canada<\/a>, resulting in widespread snow across portions of the Dakotas and into the Upper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/midwest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Midwest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/lifestyle\/thanksgiving-travel-record-2024-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>THANKSGIVING TRAVEL COULD BREAK RECORDS THIS YEAR BUT EXTREME WEATHER href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/north-dakota\/minot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minot<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/north-dakota\/bottineau\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bottineau<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/north-dakota\/devils-lake\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Devils Lake<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The National Weather Service office in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/north-dakota\/bismarck\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bismarck<\/a>, North Dakota, said heavy snow and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/what-you-should-know-about-blowing-drifting-snow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blowing snow<\/a> are expected in areas included in the Winter Storm Warning.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Snow totals between 4-7 inches could fall there, and winds could gust as high as 50 mph, according to the NWS.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/south-dakota\/sioux-falls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Sioux Falls<\/u><\/a>, South Dakota, and Interstate 94 from Fargo to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/north-dakota\/bismarck\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Bismarck<\/u><\/a>, North Dakota, could be hazardous as the rain transitions to snow.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">On Wednesday, cities such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/minnesota\/minneapolis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Minneapolis<\/u><\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/wisconsin\/green-bay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Green Bay<\/u><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/wisconsin\/milwaukee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Milwaukee<\/u><\/a> in Wisconsin, will be on alert for the potential of snow showers rel=\"noopener\">Northeast<\/a> finalize their plans to travel early ahead of the busy Thanksgiving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/holidays\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">holiday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The FOX Forecast Center said the powerful low-pressure system will likely form in the Ohio River Valley and Great Lakes and quickly strengthen on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">As the storm center drifts into the mid-Atlantic and Northeast at the end of this week, strong winds are expected to blow in cold air, supporting snow from parts of the Great Lakes region to the Ohio Valley.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The cold air will likely be on the southern side of the storm and blow into the Appalachian
