clients for sex, alleging House investigators presented individual Venmo payments to his clients during their questioning and asked them what each payment was for, with the women responding, \u201cThat was for sex.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"key-facts-element\">\n<p>The House Ethics Committee has been investigating Gaetz since last year, when a similar Justice Department probe Leppard told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/playbook\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/playbook\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.politico.com\/playbook\" aria-label=\"Politico\">Politico<\/a> his media blitz describing his clients\u2019 allegations is an effort to persuade lawmakers to release the report, saying his clients \u201chave already been through this several times and they really, really do not want to testify again, especially not on the floor of the Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"subhead-embed color-accent bg-base font-accent font-size text-align\">What Could The Report Say?<\/h2>\n<p>The House Ethics Committee\u2019s investigation focused on whether Gaetz \u201cengaged in sexual misconduct and illicit drug use, accepted improper gifts, dispensed special privileges and favors to individuals with whom he had a personal relationship, and sought to obstruct government investigations of his conduct,\u201d according to a statement it released in June. While it\u2019s unclear what specific allegations the report could include, it could include details from previous depositions, including one from the minor Gaetz allegedly had sex with, and one from her friend. Both women were deposed as part of a civil lawsuit that Gaetz\u2019s friend Christopher Dorworth brought against Greenberg and the alleged minor, and while their depositions are still under seal, CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/11\/18\/politics\/matt-gaetz-florida-court-fight\/index.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/11\/18\/politics\/matt-gaetz-florida-court-fight\/index.html\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/11\/18\/politics\/matt-gaetz-florida-court-fight\/index.html\" aria-label=\"notes\">notes<\/a> other testimonies reference what they said. Both the then-underage woman and a friend of hers testified under oath to having sex with Gaetz at a party\u2014with the alleged minor claiming she had sex with Gaetz on an air hockey table with Dorworth present\u2014and that there were drugs at the gathering including \u201calcohol, cocaine, ecstasy also known as molly, and marijuana.\u201d (Dorworth denied those allegations, claiming in his deposition that the women made up the stories and he believed \u201cpeople would lie themselves into these stories because of Matt\u2019s political celebrity,\u201d as quoted by CNN.) I have never had sex with an underage person as an adult. I have dated women in college and graduate school, and have boasted about how great they are across the board, as boyfriends do.
