{"id":128047,"date":"2024-11-20T13:47:52","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T06:47:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=128047"},"modified":"2024-11-20T13:47:52","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T06:47:52","slug":"ralph-macchio-on-cobra-kai-ending-coldplay-music-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=128047","title":{"rendered":"Ralph Macchio on &#8216;Cobra Kai&#8217; Ending, Coldplay Music Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSerendipity seems to follow <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/ralph-macchio\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ralph-macchio\" data-tag=\"ralph-macchio\">Ralph Macchio<\/a> \u2014 and it most recently took him to Australia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn October, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/coldplay\/\" id=\"auto-tag_coldplay\" data-tag=\"coldplay\">Coldplay<\/a> released the song \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/the-karate-kid\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-karate-kid\" data-tag=\"the-karate-kid\">The Karate Kid<\/a>,\u201d and it\u2019s exactly what you think it\u2019s about, down to the lyrics about \u201cDaniel.\u201d That, of course, is the name of the lead character played by Macchio in three \u201cThe Karate Kid\u201d movies and six seasons of Netflix\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/cobra-kai\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cobra-kai\" data-tag=\"cobra-kai\">Cobra Kai<\/a>.\u201d After Macchio heard the tune, he shared it on social media \u2014 and that\u2019s when Coldplay concocted a plan. Frontman Chris Martin asked Macchio to come to Australia, where they were playing a series of dates, and film the music video. The ruse included bringing the actor on stage to help perform \u201cThe Karate Kid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt was just one of those whirlwind things,\u201d says Macchio, who just returned from Down Under. \u201cIt\u2019s just a beautiful track. It blew my mind that he wrote the song, just from the film, which meant so much to him. We certainly had an impact 41 years ago, at least for a young Chris Martin and Coldplay. It never ceases to amaze me, the emotions and feelings that the original film still carries through the decades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMacchio is about to experience another one of those moments. As the final season of \u201cCobra Kai\u201d posts its next five episodes (there are still five to go) this month, Macchio is set to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And his honor will be fittingly placed near the plaque for his late co-star Pat Morita, aka Mr. Miyagi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s just perfectly wonderful at this point in my life,\u201d Macchio says. The actor, at a youthful 63, is somehow a decade older than Morita was in the original 1984 film. \u201cIt\u2019s only fitting I will be Miyagi-adjacent till the end of time, and I couldn\u2019t be prouder and more honored to have that kind of placement. I remember him saying having a star on the Walk of Fame was probably the biggest highlight of his career, coming from humble beginnings. So I\u2019ll get to channel a little bit of the love that he still sprinkles on this \u2018Karate Kid\u2019 universe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt\u2019s also a complete career full circle moment for Macchio, who remembers visiting the Walk of Fame as a teen in the late 1970s when he moved to Hollywood from his native Long Island, N.Y. to give acting a shot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt was the land of hopes and dreams, and I remember I would walk on Hollywood Boulevard looking for Gene Kelly\u2019s star,\u201d Macchio says. \u201cI wanted to be Gene Kelly, ever since my youngest memory. I used to watch the old movie musicals with my mom. And so seeing all those names like Clark Gable, which come from a lot of the films and television shows that I grew up with, it never seemed obtainable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBefore long, he had a regular role on \u201cEight Is Enough.\u201d Then came his breakout role in Francis Ford Coppola\u2019s 1983 feature \u201cThe Outsiders,\u201d followed a year later by that life-changing moment in \u201cThe Karate Kid.\u201d That crane kick. Wax on, wax off. Daniel-san. All iconic pop culture moments that are forever attached to Macchio. \u201cPeople still remember where they saw \u2018The Karate Kid,\u2019\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019m incredibly grateful, and feel privileged to be blessed enough to bring joy to people through a character.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHe also starred in the first two \u201cKarate Kid\u201d sequels and held a major role in 1992\u2019s \u201cMy Cousin Vinny,\u201d the Joe Pesci starrer that is in endless heavy rotation on basic cable. \u201cI always call it the late-for-dinner movie,\u201d he says. \u201cIf it\u2019s on, you\u2019re going to be late for dinner because you have another setup that\u2019s going to pay off and you have to stick to the next one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut then came the lean years, which Macchio chronicled in his recent memoir, \u201cWaxing On: The Karate Kid and Me.\u201d Macchio was inspired by the philosophy of one of his idols, Michael Caine, who talked about capitalizing on the difficulties you might face in acting and in life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve learned to do that,\u201d he says. \u201cThere were some difficult times as far as career goes and where I\u2019d wanted it to be. But those are also the years that I was here for my kids at a very young age. It was perfect, especially with this great resurgence and groundswell act that I\u2019m going through right now. I almost couldn\u2019t have written it better, because I get to enjoy it, and it just keeps giving. I mean, the fans never let it disappear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIndeed, Macchio never stopped working. In the 2000s, he held a recurring role on \u201cUgly Betty\u201d and was given several opportunities to play versions of himself \u2014 most of which he turned down. But he embraced a few, including on HBO\u2019s \u201cEntourage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIf I could tell you the amount of times it was pitched \u2014 I said no 90% of the time,\u201d he says. \u201cI went through a phase where I would joke that my name was more famous than I was. \u2018Entourage\u2019 was the first time I played myself, and so I was proud because it was a cool industry choice, and a pretty darn good episode as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThen there was the Funny or Die parody \u201cWax On, F*ck Off,\u201d from filmmaker Todd Holland, which toyed with Macchio\u2019s nice guy persona by trying to turn him into a Hollywood bad boy. \u201cIt was the perfect time when people with bad behavior were being rewarded, and I considered myself a good guy,\u201d he says. \u201cSo how could I try to make myself more relevant with what works in in Hollywood?<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut the real groundwork for \u201cCobra Kai\u201d came when he and William Zabka guest starred on \u201cHow I Met Your Mother\u201d \u2014 in which Neil Patrick Harris\u2019 character Barney wanted the hero of the \u201cThe Karate Kid\u201d at his party. When Macchio showed up, he was disappointed as he\u2019d considered Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) the good guy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThat dynamic, of course, became the heart of \u201cCobra Kai,\u201d a new take on the \u201cKarate Kid\u201d characters from Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. Around the time that show began development (originally at YouTube Originals), Macchio had landed a very different kind of role as a vice cop in HBO\u2019s gritty drama \u201cThe Deuce.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cHe\u2019s everything that you dream of when you\u2019re think about meeting your heroes,\u201d Hurwitz says. \u201cHe\u2019s a kind person. He\u2019s a family man. It extends to how he carries himself on set as the No. 1 on the call sheet. He\u2019s a role model to a whole group of young actors on our show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHeald interjects: \u201cIt\u2019s easy to see, upon meeting him for the very first time, that he\u2019s one of the most authentic people you\u2019ll ever meet. He is thoughtful as a performer and a producer and now a director, and in the way that you want as a collaborator.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tNow, as \u201cCobra Kai\u201d ends, Macchio says the timing \u201cjust feels right\u201d to \u201cland it but in a great way.\u201d But this isn\u2019t the end for Macchio as Daniel LaRusso. He will revive the character again opposite Jackie Chan in \u201cThe Karate Kid: Legends,\u201d which takes place three years after the events of \u201cCobra Kai.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt was not a quick decision, because it was about protecting the Daniel LaRusso character, and finding where he would be at that point, and then protecting the whole legacy in the Miyagi-verse,\u201d says Macchio. \u201cOnce we were able to line that up, for the \u2018Cobra Kai\u2019 story to lead into the new film \u2014 even though they\u2019re separate ecosystems \u2014 it all made sense for me. Then, working with Jackie was just super exciting. I started this on the big screen. How cool is it to get it back to the big screen?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAs for what\u2019s next, Macchio is keen on pursuing more directing and hopes to help Heald, Hurwitz and Schlossberg turn a Mr. Miyagi origins series into fruition. Plus, he wants to explore other characters beyond the \u201cKarate Kid\u201d universe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWill \u201cThe Karate Kid: Legends\u201d mark his final bow as Daniel? \u201cI don\u2019t want to overstay the welcome of a character that\u2019s so beloved,\u201d he says. \u201cBut he\u2019s aging like I am, so there could be other areas to explore as well.
