She also suffers from \u201ccomplex\u201d acid reflux that has gotten so bad she has developed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK525995\/#:~:text=Introduction-,Stridor%20is%20an%20abnormal%2C%20high%2Dpitched%20respiratory%20sound%20produced%20by,prominent%20during%20the%20inspiration%20phase.\">stridor<\/a>. We are seeing multiple specialists about this and following their guidance, which includes both of us avoiding anything with dairy or soy in it, as we have done for 10 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"slate-paragraph slate-graf\" data-word-count=\"12\" data-uri=\"slate.com\/_components\/slate-paragraph\/instances\/cm3oxrqhj001m3b71ipmjitmd@published\">Despite all of this, my mother believes that the intolerances don\u2019t exist\u2026<\/p>\n<aside data-uri=\"slate.com\/_components\/slate-roadblock\/instances\/cm3oxs7h0001u3b71khoh166z@published\" class=\"slate-roadblock\">\n<\/aside>\n<p class=\"slate-paragraph slate-graf\" data-word-count=\"56\" data-uri=\"slate.com\/_components\/slate-paragraph\/instances\/cm3oxslvq00223b71em7bcuub@published\">and that I\u2019m using them as an excuse not to visit on Thanksgiving. Why are you considering going over there, to a house with parents who have already told you that you\u2019re ruining the holiday, and who don\u2019t take your child\u2019s health seriously? Fuck them. You cannot \u201cruin a holiday\u201d for a 1-year-old who doesn\u2019t know what day it is, doesn\u2019t care about Thanksgiving, and indeed lacks object permanence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"slate-paragraph slate-graf\" data-word-count=\"72\" data-uri=\"slate.com\/_components\/slate-paragraph\/instances\/cm3oxvivv002s3b713mg0ugdy@published\">The person whose feelings about Thanksgiving you are \u201cconflicted\u201d about is you. <em>You<\/em> care about Thanksgiving, which is fine, but that is not worth setting a precedent that your daughter\u2019s health comes second to a made-up holiday.
