But there probably will be cases where prices will go up for consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"MBROYV2ZE5EGTN7GVJUWOMSEEE\">The fact that he is making the revelation now did not sit well on social media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BTTMZXNK2VBOHCWCM4X74LGI3I\">\u201c(Walmart) why now?\u201d one person wrote on X, tagging the company. \u201cWhy weren\u2019t you talking about this before the election!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"FIIY2ETPBFAOHDU62VHQTZUTLQ\">\u201cWelcome (Walmart) shoppers,\u201d another person wrote. \u201cThe company is letting you know they will increase prices when Trump initiates his tariffs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"UI35SYJA2RD7TN6COHHMJBR2IY\">Others questioned whether the store would have to raise many prices at all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"FS62DRCMYVHAZPAYN6JTSBA4NY\">\u201c(Walmart), why are you planning on raising prices on your products because of (Donald Trump\u2019s) overseas tariffs plan if you are \u2018locally sourcing\u2019 Walmart brand products?\u201d another wrote. \u201cI get other products though. Those are from companies that source from China\/Vietnam\/Japan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QXLHLIQQTRHV3NYHVGWKIGIKQ4\">\u201cI\u2019m hearing that (Walmart) and other mega companies are raising their prices now, based on what they think may happen with Trumps tariffs next year?\u201d another wrote on X. \u201cThis is greed, not forecasting. It would take a few quarters, if not a full year, to see how tariffs effected their bottom line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"FFMK7HZAQZBJXHEQMAQONCRODQ\">There was plenty more back-and-forth over the subject on Elon Musk\u2019s social media platform.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"SI345I5SYZACVLVFW3UKMDC434\">Walmart isn\u2019t the only store to suggest that prices could rise.
