well-preserved remains, uncovered in Siberian permafrost, are nearly intact, including surprisingly soft fur and even the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/11\/18\/science\/mummified-sabre-toothed-cat-cub\">\u201ctoe beans\u201d \u2014 as cat lovers call feline footpads<\/a> \u2014 on its front paws.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3syurb7000p356miypa2zqt@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            It\u2019s the first evidence from Asia of Homotherium latidens, and the specimen\u2019s genetic information will help researchers better understand how the species lived and hunted.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" Jacco van Loon, Keele Observatory director at the UK\u2019s Keele University.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\"
