With an updated draft order and evolving team needs, we\u2019re breaking down how the first round could unfold if the draft were held today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This mock includes both New York teams selecting potential franchise quarterbacks and a couple of surprise picks in the latter half of the first round.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s my projection for Round 1 as we head toward the offseason.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>1.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/jacksonville-jaguars\/15\"> <b>Jacksonville Jaguars<\/b><\/a><b>: WR\/CB Travis Hunter, Colorado<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The silver lining to a tough season for Jacksonville could be landing arguably the most unique draft prospect in over a decade. Travis Hunter has been phenomenal on both sides of the ball, earning an 87.3 PFF receiving grade while averaging 2.47 yards per route run. He has posted an 89.6 PFF coverage grade on defense, recording a combined eight pass breakups and interceptions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>2.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/new-york-giants\/21\"> <b>New York Giants<\/b><\/a><b>: QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By the time the draft arrives, the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/new-york-giants\/21\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New York Giants<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> could end up with the top overall pick, especially after transitioning to<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/tommy-devito\/60545\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tommy DeVito<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at quarterback. Currently slated to pick second, they would have their choice of quarterbacks if Jacksonville holds the top spot and opts not to take one, barring a trade.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Shedeur Sanders, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/new-york-giants\/21\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Giants<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would secure a prospect who has earned an elite 90.5 PFF passing grade this season, committing a turnover-worthy play on just 1.0% of his dropbacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>3.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/las-vegas-raiders\/23\"> <b>Las Vegas Raiders<\/b><\/a><b>: QB Cam Ward, Miami<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/las-vegas-raiders\/23\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Raiders<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have likely seen enough from<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/aidan-oconnell\/60516\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aidan O\u2019Connell<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/gardner-minshew\/41401\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gardner Minshew<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2024 to determine that neither is the long-term answer at quarterback. With a top-five pick, it makes sense to target a signal-caller for the future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ward is on track for a career-high PFF passing grade in 2024, currently sitting at 90.6. He has also delivered a big-time throw on 6.0% of his passing attempts, showcasing his ability to make high-impact plays.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>4.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/new-england-patriots\/19\"> <b>New England Patriots<\/b><\/a><b>: WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/new-england-patriots\/19\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Patriots<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018 first-round pick should focus on one of two positions: wide receiver or offensive tackle, either of which would provide crucial support for quarterback <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/drake-maye\/143969\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drake Maye<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as he continues to develop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McMillan has been a model of consistency, averaging at least 2.70 yards per route run and earning a PFF receiving grade above 80.0 in each of the past two seasons.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>5.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/carolina-panthers\/5\"> <b>Carolina Panthers<\/b><\/a><b>: EDGE Abdul Carter, Penn State<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carter has impressed as a pass-rusher in each of the past two seasons, with PFF pass-rush grades above 90.0 in both 2023 and 2024. So far this season, he has racked up 39 pressures, including 13 combined sacks and quarterback hits, from 247 pass-rushing snaps.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>6.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/tennessee-titans\/31\"> <b>Tennessee Titans<\/b><\/a><b>: CB Will Johnson, Michigan<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve been intrigued enough by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/will-levis\/83542\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will Levis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 recent performances to prioritize one of the top defensive players in this draft class over definitively replacing the former Kentucky quarterback in 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Johnson stands out as a premier option, having earned a PFF coverage grade of 75.0 or better in all three of his college seasons.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>7.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/new-york-jets\/22\"> <b>New York Jets<\/b><\/a><b>: QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reports over the weekend suggest that the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/new-york-jets\/22\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jets<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> could move on from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/aaron-rodgers\/2241\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aaron Rodgers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at quarterback in 2025. Even if Rodgers remains, the team should strongly consider drafting one of the top three quarterbacks if available when they\u2019re on the clock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jalen Milroe offers a compelling option, having earned a career-high 81.6 PFF passing grade this season. He\u2019s also a dynamic threat as a runner, as he has forced 24 missed tackles on 124 carries.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>8.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/cleveland-browns\/8\"> <b>Cleveland Browns<\/b><\/a><b>: DI Mason Graham, Michigan<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In an ideal world, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/cleveland-browns\/8\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Browns<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would target a quarterback here, but with the top three already off the board, it makes more sense to focus on one of the premier defensive players available with the eighth pick.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mason Graham has been dominant this season, racking up 33 total pressures on 311 pass-rushing snaps while earning an elite 91.2 PFF run-defense grade.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>9.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/new-orleans-saints\/20\"> <b>New Orleans Saints<\/b><\/a><b>: EDGE Nic Scourton, Texas A&amp;M<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scourton has been solid as a pass-rusher this season, generating 33 total pressures on 298 pass-rushing snaps. However, he was even more dominant in 2023 at Purdue, earning a stellar 90.9 PFF pass-rush grade with 42 total pressures on just 263 pass-rushing snaps.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>10.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/cincinnati-bengals\/7\"> <b>Cincinnati Bengals<\/b><\/a><b>: WR Luther Burden III, Missouri<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/tee-higgins\/61211\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tee Higgins<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> expected to depart this offseason, adding a new weapon for quarterback <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/joe-burrow\/28022\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joe Burrow<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a logical route for the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/cincinnati-bengals\/7\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bengals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to explore in the first round of the 2025 draft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Burden has been impressive this season, averaging 2.41 yards per route run. He was even better in 2023, earning an elite 91.0 PFF receiving grade while averaging 3.29 yards per route run.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>11.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/dallas-cowboys\/9\"> <b>Dallas Cowboys<\/b><\/a><b>: RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Had Mason Graham still been available here, I would have prioritized him over Jeanty. However, with Graham off the board, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/dallas-cowboys\/9\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cowboys<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would likely look to add a dynamic playmaker to their backfield.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jeanty has been a standout at Boise State, earning 90.0-plus PFF rushing grades in each of the past three seasons.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>12.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/chicago-bears\/6\"> <b>Chicago Bears<\/b><\/a><b>: DI Kenneth Grant, Michigan<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/chicago-bears\/6\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bears<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018 defensive front has taken a big step forward in 2024, and adding premium talent on the interior could take it to another level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grant has earned PFF pass-rush grades above 69.0 in each of the past two seasons and has already set a career-high in defensive stops this season (19).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>13.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/indianapolis-colts\/14\"> <b>Indianapolis Colts<\/b><\/a><b>: S Malaki Starks, Georgia<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/indianapolis-colts\/14\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Colts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018 starting safeties have earned PFF grades below 70.0 this season, so adding a top talent like Starks could boost them on the back end.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starks has missed just 6.3% of his tackle attempts over the past three seasons and has recorded 20 combined pass breakups and interceptions in that span.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>14.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/miami-dolphins\/17\"> <b>Miami Dolphins<\/b><\/a><b>: OT Will Campbell, LSU<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Concerns about arm length might lead to Campbell being moved inside to guard at the next level, but I\u2019d prefer to try him at tackle first before making that decision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Campbell has posted a career-high 83.5 PFF pass-blocking grade in 2024, allowing just 13 total pressures across 518 pass-blocking snaps.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>15.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/tampa-bay-buccaneers\/30\"> <b>Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/b><\/a><b>: EDGE James Pearce Jr., Tennessee<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pearce was once considered the favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in this draft. While there are concerns about his size at the NFL level, his pass-rushing ability and expected athletic testing should keep him in the conversation as the top edge defender in April.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over his college career, Pearce has amassed 107 total pressures on just 498 pass-rushing snaps.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>16.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/los-angeles-rams\/26\"> <b>Los Angeles Rams<\/b><\/a><b>: OT Josh Simmons, Ohio State<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With current starting left tackle <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/alaric-jackson\/40972\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alaric Jackson<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> set to hit free agency in 2025, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/los-angeles-rams\/26\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rams<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> could be in the market for a Day 1 starter at the position in the draft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before an injury sidelined him in Week 7, Simmons was enjoying a career year. He earned an impressive 86.7 PFF pass-blocking grade, allowing just two pressures\u2014neither of which were sacks or quarterback hits\u2014on 158 pass-blocking snaps.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>17.<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/san-francisco-49ers\/28\"> <b>San Francisco 49ers<\/b><\/a><b>: CB Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With both <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/isaac-yiadom\/49355\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Isaac Yiadom<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/charvarius-ward\/43034\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Charvarius Ward<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> set to become free agents in 2025, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/nfl\/teams\/san-francisco-49ers\/28\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">49ers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may look to bolster their secondary through the draft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Benjamin Morrison has impressed throughout his college career, although his 66.1 PFF coverage grade this season is his lowest at Notre Dame.
