Lorincz told detectives she was in fear for her life during the incident.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3vq5exp000o3b6mz019f49x@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Lorincz didn\u2019t testify at her trial, but she spoke during the penalty phase, saying she wished she could go back and change things.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3xl0wji000a356mz0sm5w78@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cI am so sorry I took AJ\u2019s life. I never intended to kill her,\u201d Lorincz said Monday, adding she felt confused the night of the shooting because Owens was screaming.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3xl1p89000d356medjejbh0@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            After giving her apology, Lorincz returned to her seat, and at one point put her face in her hands and appeared to cry.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3xl3zzc00003b6mvkcs5u1m@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Before the judge handed down the sentence, Owens\u2019 mother, Pamela Dias, delivered a statement.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3xlmbz6000d3b6mjcwnba3d@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cI stand before you not only mourning the loss of my daughter, but also the loss of our hopes, dreams and the future that we often spoke of,\u201d Dias said. \u201cOur plans and promises to one another as mother and daughter will never come to light. She said she confronted the children that day and threw their roller skates.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3vq4y5b000l3b6mjsy3x90e@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            She told detectives she was in fear for her life when Owens started banging on her door that night and yelling \u201cI\u2019m gonna kill you,\u201d interrogation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/06\/13\/us\/susan-lorincz-interrogation-video-florida\">video released <\/a>by the Marion County Sheriff\u2019s Office showed.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3vusihu00033j6mkjiyqgan@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The defense argued Lorincz had \u201cno choice\u201d but to shoot.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3xlnm6m000f3b6mjhr1q4le@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The judge found Lorincz had called 911 and knew law enforcement was on their way and that she could have stayed in a bedroom where she kept her firearms.
