Housekeepers found their bags and personal items in their hotel room the day after they were last seen.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3yc0jxg00143b6motuhn7bf@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The car found was located in a pond along Interstate 95 and New Jesup Highway, near the hotel where the couple was last seen.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3yc0jxg00153b6mvxjokdsj@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            No official determination has been made about the identity of the remains, Glynn County police said.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3ykbtql00003b6mc2jntt0q@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The department is working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which will have forensics experts examine the remains and try to determine an identity, the police spokesperson said. Investigators are also working to determine if the vehicle can be removed from the pond without causing further damage.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3yc0jxg00163b6m18to6w16@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Authorities credited Sunshine State Sonar, a nonprofit focused on locating missing persons, and the Camden County Dive Team for their assistance in finding the vehicle.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3yc0jxg00173b6m0rrjtj68@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            In an update <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Sunshinestatesonar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on social media<\/a>, Sunshine State Sonar said they acted on a tip regarding a submerged vehicle and found a 1970s Ford sedan. A second vehicle was then discovered, they said, which matches the description of the Romers\u2019 1979 Lincoln Continental.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3yc0jxg00183b6m79d1zyka@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Barry Fahs, a resident of Brunswick, recounted seeing construction crews extracting remnants of a vehicle from the pond. \u201cA rear end of a car, the car was tearing apart. The police officer said there were two deceased bodies in the car,\u201d Fahs told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsjax.com\/news\/local\/investigators-find-remains-car-1980-cold-case\/DSXCIKTHFBD7NJM4KMLGYZ4XGA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN affiliate WFOX\/WJAX.<\/a>\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3yc0jxg00193b6mhag708x3@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The Romers\u2019 disappearance has puzzled their families, investigators and the community of Scarsdale, New York, for more than 40 years. \u201cAll the investigations and psychics and everything, the police, they worked so hard. And they thought it was foul play,\u201d Christine Seaman Heller, a granddaughter of the missing woman, told WABC of the years of searching.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3yc0jxg001a3b6mdn3gdgld@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The investigation led her late father, Catherine Romer\u2019s son, to travel to Georgia for years seeking answers.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3yc0jxg001b3b6mrghk7wj9@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cThat was all we were consumed about until today,\u201d Seaman Heller told the news outlet, adding her family is eternally thankful for the commitment from everyone involved. \u201cIt\u2019s always been such a mystery. It would be so wonderful to find out. Just have some peace.
