missing, people here in Hurghada, a famous tourist<br \/>\ndestination, are worried about their livelihoods. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Such a tragic incident could have serious repercussions on the<br \/>\ntourism industry, a lifeline to an ailing Egyptian economy. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">They are worried tourists might get discouraged to go on diving<br \/>\ntrips, a popular activity here. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Winter is a busy season for Egyptian Red Sea resorts, known for<br \/>\ntheir sunny weather, clear waters and magnificent coral reefs and many European<br \/>\ntourists come here to dive. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">When a boat, carrying more than 30 tourists, sinks off the coast<br \/>\nof a resort like Marsa Alam, you\u2019d expect continuous news updates about the<br \/>\nrescue and search operations. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">But the Egyptian authorities usually tread very cautiously when<br \/>\nreleasing public statements regarding an incident, that might bring about<br \/>\neconomic damage &#8211; the last thing Egypt needs at the moment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">This could be partly why officials prefer to give broad lines,<br \/>\nrather than go into specific details.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Besides, it\u2019s the army in<br \/>\ncharge here.
