The closure was announced i<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/humanoid-origin_earlier-today-we-informed-our-staff-that-activity-7266889657370447874-9uwE?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop\">n a post on the company\u2019s LinkedIn page<\/a>. \u201cDespite efforts to shield the studio from broader challenges in the industry, an unexpected shortfall of funding left us unable to sustain operations,\u201d the post read.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">Humanoid Origin was founded by Hudson in 2021 when it was then known as Humanoid Studios. Hudson started the studio after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/2020\/12\/3\/22151192\/bioware-casey-hudson-mark-darrah-leaving-dragon-age-mass-effect\">leaving a 20-year career at BioWare<\/a> where he worked as a producer and director on several of the studio\u2019s seminal titles including <em>Mass Effect<\/em> and <em>Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic<\/em>. Hudson left BioWare in 2014 for a brief stint at Microsoft Studios before returning to BioWare in 2017. Then in 2020, he left BioWare for good saying it was time to, \u201cmake way for the next generation of studio leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">In 2022, Humanoid Studios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/2022\/3\/22\/22991023\/mass-effect-casey-hudson-humanoid-new-sci-fi-game\">announced its first project<\/a>, \u201ca multi-platform AAA title focused on character-driven narrative in an\u00a0all-new science fiction universe.\u201d Beyond concept art on the studio\u2019s website, little was known about the game.
