He later withdrew the comments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">Speaking to Hannity, Homan insisted that he was willing to put Johnston \u201cin jail because there\u2019s a statute\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">\u201cWhat it says is that it\u2019s a felony if you knowingly harbour and conceal an illegal alien from immigration authorities. It\u2019s also a felony to impede a federal law enforcement officer. So if he don\u2019t help, that\u2019s fine. He can get the hell out of the way, but we\u2019re going to go do the job,\u201d he said, before adding: \u201cI find it hard to believe that any mayor or governor would say they don\u2019t want public safety threats removed from their neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">\u201cI don\u2019t know what the hell is going on in Denver, but we\u2019re going to go in and we\u2019re going to go and we\u2019re going to fix it. If you don\u2019t want to fix it, if you don\u2019t want to protect his communities, President Trump and Ice [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] will.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">Homan, who was deputy director of Ice in Trump\u2019s first administration, said the president-elect had a \u201cmandate from the American people \u2026 to save American lives\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">He has taken a similarly unbending stance against other local and state Democratic politicians who have declared their local fiefdoms \u201csanctuary cities\u201d safe from Trump\u2019s deportation plans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">Gavin Newsom, the California governor, and the Illinois governor, JB Pritzker, have both vowed opposition.
