On Tuesday, Jones was asked whether it was \u201ccrazy\u201d to consider that McCarthy might receive a contract extension at the end of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Jones said it was \u201c<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/jerry-jones-not-crazy-to-think-mike-mccarthy-will-get-an-extension\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not crazy<\/a><\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later Tuesday, McCarthy was asked for his thoughts that the owner didn\u2019t rule out the coach\u2019s tenure lasting beyond this season. McCarthy initially made light of Jones\u2019 comments to 105.3 The Fan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/dallascowboys\/status\/1861512111064576147\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Why are you laughing<\/a><\/span>?\u201d McCarthy said, via video from the team. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCrazy? I mean. . .,\u201d he said to more laughter.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy is in the final year of his contract as is the rest of the coaching staff, with all of them having uncertain futures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really haven\u2019t talked about it all year, so I\u2019m definitely not going to start on a short week and an important division game. But I\u2019m not going to throw away positive vibes either, so keep \u2018em coming. That\u2019s all good. But, yeah, that\u2019s not something I\u2019m really focused on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Cowboys broke their five-game losing streak Sunday in an upset of the Commanders and they are favored over the Giants on Thanksgiving Day.
