As the Thanksgiving Day <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/winter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winter<\/a> storm exits the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/northeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northeast<\/a>, it will begin to pull in arctic air from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/canada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canada<\/a>, and it will extend to the south, potentially as far as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/southeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Southeast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;This isn\u2019t just the Northeast,&#8221; FOX Weather Meteorologist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/person\/t\/marissa-torres\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marissa Torres<\/a> said. &#8220;This is the northern tier, the northern Plains and into the Southeast.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/wind-chill-freeze-extreme-cold-weather-alerts-changed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>WIND CHILL, OTHER COLD WEATHER ALERTS TO GET NEW NAMES THIS WINTER FROM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/National%20Departures%20by%20Population.png\"\/><figcaption>This graphic shows the temperature departures across the U.S. this week.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;I mean, you have a big chunk of people by Saturday, 226 million below average,&#8221; Torres continued. &#8220;And in some cases, we\u2019re not just talking about maybe 10-15 below (average). We could be 25 degrees below average.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">It\u2019s certainly been a slow start to the colder temperatures in some parts of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/midwest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Midwest<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/missouri\/st-louis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">St. Louis<\/a> recorded a morning low temperature of 29 degrees on Tuesday, missing its record for the latest below-freezing temperature by one day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">That record was set on Nov. 27, 2009.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/dont-leave-any-of-these-items-in-your-car-this-winter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>DON&#8217;T LEAVE ANY OF THESE ITEMS IN YOUR CAR THIS WINTER<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">On Thanksgiving Day, temperatures will struggle to make it into the teens across portions of the northern Plains.
