My initial feelings and thoughts when we entered the mother&#8217;s bedroom was of disbelief,&#8221; they shared. &#8220;Her mother walked round the side of the bed and I followed. I was taken aback by what I saw and was extremely shocked to see a baby looking up at me sat in a divan drawer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<p><!--\/#cb-f54508bfe734d32ba0954ccd62f16913--><\/p>\n<section id=\"cb-4ee44550430b508ed1e2a4662e527bb8\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \">\n<p>&#8220;[The baby] stared at me and was rocking back and forth. I looked at her mum and asked, &#8216;Is this where you keep her?&#8217; The mother replied matter of factly, &#8216;Yes in the drawer,'&#8221; they continued. &#8220;I was shocked the mother did not show any emotion and appeared blas\u00e9 about the situation. I asked had anyone else ever seen (the child)? movements, such as rocking.&#8221; They also claimed she was &#8220;significantly malnourished, unkempt, dehydrated, she had an untreated cleft lip and palate, swollen abdomen, significant nappy rash, and poor muscle bulk&#8221; &#8212; and &#8220;also had floppy limbs, swollen feet in an abnormal position and redness to the outer limbs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<p><!--\/#cb-b05a8e4b96adbd30e78190f91308062e--><\/p>\n<section id=\"cb-7121c012dce9ebf8aabb80bfcf72e2d7\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \">\n<p>They said the child&#8217;s development was &#8220;equivalent to that of a 10-month-old,&#8221; &#8220;as a result of the extreme nature of the neglect.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<p><!--\/#cb-7121c012dce9ebf8aabb80bfcf72e2d7--><\/p>\n<section id=\"cb-9e14db43c2c40b052c8a078552f189de\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \">\n<p>CPS noted, however, that the child began &#8220;vocalizing&#8221;
