Right now, Disney\u2019s<strong> <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/moana-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_moana-2\" data-tag=\"moana-2\">Moana 2<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>is putting up an estimated<strong> $54M<\/strong> first day, inclusive of yesterday\u2019s Walt Disney Animation preview record of $13.8M. This will coast the Dwayne Johnson-Auli\u2019i Cravalho\u00a0sequel to at least <strong>$170M<\/strong>+ at 4,200 theaters, easily a Thanksgiving 5-day record both for an opening, unseating Disney\u2019s own <em>Frozen <\/em>($93.9M), as well as a movie with the biggest haul over the holiday stretch, the former being <em>Frozen 2 <\/em>($125M). The 3-day for <em>Moana 2 <\/em>is somewhere between <strong>$90M-$100M+<\/strong>. Let\u2019s just keep a tab on this: Best opening for Johnson of all-time at the domestic box office is <em>Furious 7 <\/em>at $147.1M.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThis is Disney\u2019s fourth blockbuster north of $100M+ domestic under the Alan Bergman team after <em>Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Inside Out 2<\/em> (the highest grossing movie of the year) and <em>Deadpool &amp; Wolverine, <\/em>the latter being the highest R-rated movie of all-time. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tNow, some rivals easily see $200M+ over the Wednesday-Sunday period, and if <em>Moana 2 <\/em>crosses that threshold, she\u2019ll squash pervious 5-day opening recordholder, <em>Super Mario Bros Movie <\/em>($204.6M) like a turtle. Keep in mind the first day here for <em>Moana 2 <\/em>bests the first day of that Illumination\/Nintendo title at $31.7M \u2014 but that pic didn\u2019t have any previews.
