But that\u2019s when, I guess it woke up or saw the light or whatever it swooped around a bit and it took off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A month after the winged creature\u2019s bite, Seneng fell ill, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Seneng\u2019s daughter took her to a hospital, where she died on Nov. 22 \u2014 four days after doctors put her into a coma, according to ABC30. <\/p>\n<p>Splotch organized a GoFundMe that has raised roughly $1,500 for Seneng\u2019s funeral expenses, as of Thursday.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>One of Seneng\u2019s friends set up a GoFundMe after her death. <span class=\"credit\">Gofundme<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fresno County health officials didn\u2019t return a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Rabies is a fatal, but rare preventable viral disease that causes fewer than 10 deaths in the US every year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n<p>Roughly 60,000 Americans receive post-exposure prophylaxis, which prevents the disease, after potential exposure to rabies.<\/p>\n<p>The high death rate of rabies in humans has prompted health officials to take drastic steps to prevent it, given it can be found in several common wild animals, especially bats and raccoons.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Bats are among the animals where rabies is commonly found. <span class=\"credit\">Art_man \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The beloved P\u2019Nut the Squirrel \u2014 the internet-famous rodent controversially seized in an upstate New York \u2014 was <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/12\/us-news\/pnut-the-squirrel-was-marked-for-death-and-decapitation-from-the-start-as-rabies-test-comes-back-negative-in-tragic-twist\/\">marked for death<\/a> as state officials who planned the raid wanted to test him for rabies, which <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/06\/us-news\/pnut-the-squirrels-caretaker-fears-animal-was-decapitated-by-dec-as-he-plans-funeral-and-lawsuit\/\">requires euthanization and decapitation<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Officials contended P\u2019Nut, who apparently lived rabies-free as a pet for seven years, had bitten a wildlife agent.<\/p>\n<p>P\u2019Nut\u2019s rabies test came back negative.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1660802\">\r\n<\/div>\r\n<script>(function(w,q){w[q]=w[q]||[];w[q].push([\"_mgc.load\"])})(window,\"_mgq\");\r\n<\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/28\/us-news\/calif-art-teacher-dies-of-rabies-after-getting-bitten-by-bat\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was a rabid bat out of hell.
