{"id":131434,"date":"2024-11-29T14:34:45","date_gmt":"2024-11-29T07:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=131434"},"modified":"2024-11-29T14:34:45","modified_gmt":"2024-11-29T07:34:45","slug":"drew-lock-struggles-as-giants-fall-to-cowboys-in-thanksgiving-dud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=131434","title":{"rendered":"Drew Lock struggles as Giants fall to Cowboys in Thanksgiving dud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>ARLINGTON, Texas \u2014 Even when they don\u2019t play soft, the Giants still find it incredibly hard to win.<\/p>\n<p>One week after two of the team\u2019s best players criticized the \u201csoft\u201d performance in a blowout loss, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/28\/sports\/john-maras-vow-for-patience-should-come-with-giants-warning-for-brian-daboll\/\">the teetering Giants<\/a> avoided repeat embarrassment in front of a national Thanksgiving audience but still weren\u2019t quite up to matching the headed-nowhere Cowboys in a 27-20 loss.<\/p>\n<p>The Giants (2-10) suffered their seventh straight loss \u2014 tied for the seventh-longest losing streak in the franchise\u2019s 100-year history \u2014 and dropped their eighth straight in the NFC East rivalry.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Drew Lock is sacked during the Giants\u2019 27-20 Thanksgiving loss to the Cowboys on Nov, 28, 2024.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got to try to find a way out,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/28\/sports\/giants-malik-nabers-targeted-a-ton-after-last-weeks-complaint\/\">said receiver Malik Nabers<\/a>, who, along with Dexter Lawrence, were the loudest critics last week. \u201cStop losing, get more wins.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lawrence, who suffered what could be a season-ending dislocated elbow, said the Giants \u201cplayed hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Making his first start of the season in place of the injured Tommy DeVito, quarterback Drew Lock engineered a 70-yard touchdown drive on the Giants\u2019 first possession.<\/p>\n<p>Lock, who started without having taken a full-speed team rep in practice since training camp, finished with 178 passing yards and a team-high 57 rushing yards. <\/p>\n<p>He threw a pick-six and lost a fumble.<\/p>\n<p>Tyrone Tracy Jr. punched in a 1-yard touchdown to put the Giants in front, 7-3, for the first time at any point during their entire losing streak \u2014 dating to Oct. 6.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Brian Daboll reacts during the Giants\u2019 27-20 loss to the Cowboys. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Sign of things to come? Not exactly.<\/p>\n<p>With<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/28\/sports\/its-a-waiting-game-to-see-if-brian-daboll-had-his-giants-finale\/\"> head coach and play-caller Brian Daboll\u2019s job security under intense scrutiny<\/a>, the Giants netted 70 offensive yards over their next 10 possessions combined. The results were five punts, two field goals, two turnovers and the clock running out in the first half.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust not good enough,\u201d Daboll said. \u201cCertainly, a lot of people, myself included, we can all be better. There were some good plays out there and there were some plays I wish we had back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Somehow, that was enough production to hang around in a 27-13 hole so that a 76-yard fourth-quarter touchdown drive \u2014 capped by Lock\u2019s 8-yard touchdown run \u2014 made it a close game.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>DeMarvion Overshown returns a Drew Lock interception for a touchdown during the Giants\u2019 loss to the Cowboys. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But when the Giants needed one big play from their defense \u2014 on a third-and-3 just after the two-minute warning \u2014 to get the ball back with a chance for an unlikely comeback, Tyler Nubin and Adoree\u2019 Jackson allowed a 3-yard completion to Brandin Cooks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tight end didn\u2019t run a route. Just ran into me,\u201d Jackson said. \u201cThe ref didn\u2019t call [pass interference] on a pick route and that\u2019s just how it went down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just good enough to lose again.<\/p>\n<p>The Cowboys (5-7) snapped their six-game home losing streak in front of 92,196 at AT&amp;T Stadium, where the Giants have not won since 2016. The Giants are the last remaining NFL team without a home victory (0-6).<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The Giants fell to a paltry 2-10 on the season. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It did not take longer than the second possession for Lock to make the kind of catastrophic mistake that the Giants were hoping to be free of when they benched Daniel Jones and bypassed Lock for third-stringer DeVito.<\/p>\n<p>After Devin Singletary was knocked back off his chip block by DeMarvion Overshown, Lock still tried to force the screen pass. <\/p>\n<p>Overshown tipped the line-drive pass in the air, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/28\/sports\/heroes-zeros-from-giants-loss-to-cowboys-demarvion-overshown-delivered-fateful-dagger\/\">caught it and returned a 23-yard interception for a touchdown<\/a> and a 13-7 lead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s one of my first times that I can play a full game with these guys and show them what I can do,\u201d Lock said. \u201cThat I\u2019ll go out there and fight. The pass rush went without a sack for the third time in four games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast week, emotions were flaring,\u201d edge rusher Brian Burns said. \u201cEverybody was frustrated and said a couple things. We did respond well. It was a tough loss, but we did fight all the way to the end.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Cowboys harassed Lock into six sacks, with third- and fourth-string offensive tackles Evan Neal and Chris Hubbard offering little resistance.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper Rush, who spent some time as a third-stringer with the Giants in 2020, made his 10th career and fourth straight start.<\/p>\n<p>Replay review overturned a fumble by Rush forced by Bobby Okereke at the 2-yard line and recovered by Micah McFadden. Rush fell on top of another red zone fumble.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBang-bang call,\u201d Okereke said. \u201cI knew it was going to be close and he was going to be diving for the end zone, so I wanted to punch the ball out. That\u2019s the NFL \u2014 adversity every week, whether it\u2019s your record, whether it\u2019s criticism, whether it\u2019s injuries.
