I thought you were going to send me an Uber.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Connecticut native who moved to the Big Apple three years ago, Zach explained why he thought the request was out of bounds. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI haven\u2019t met you yet \u2026 I didn\u2019t know this person\u2019s last name, I had never laid eyes on her,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I was going to call her an Uber, she would have had to send me her address, which is a really weird thing to send to a random man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He had initially offered to travel to the Garden State, writing \u201cI\u2019m not familiar with good first dates spots. Got any favorites? Otherwise, I\u2019ll suggest some things in Manhattan.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Zach initially offered to come to New Jersey. <span class=\"credit\">instagram @alittlenudge<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When the woman, who was around 30, said she was fairly new to Jersey and was \u201copen to Manhattan suggestions,\u201d he gave her two options. She chose drinks at Treadwell Park in FiDi.<\/p>\n<p>After the woman made it clear she wanted him to shell out cash for her voyage into Gotham, Zach tried to lighten the mood, writing \u201cI wish you had phrased it as \u2018Call me an Uber,\u2019 so I could have said, \u2018You\u2019re an Uber,&#8217;\u201d but she never replied.<\/p>\n<p>He still showed up for the date \u201cjust in case.\u201d But when he messaged her to say he got them a seat, she replied, \u201cI\u2019m not coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He wrote back, saying \u201cit was a little strange\u201d that she asked him for an Uber, especially since he offered to come to her \u2014 and she retorted, \u201cI\u2019m traveling almost an hour to meet you for a first date, not even for dinner. The least you could do is cover my transportation. It\u2019s not a strange concept to a gentleman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Instagrammers were shocked at the woman\u2019s nerve for assuming he\u2019d foot her travel bill, calling it \u201cridiculous,\u201d \u201coutrageous\u201d and \u201csuper tacky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the most insane thing I\u2019ve ever seen. I\u2019ve never heard of such a thing,\u201d one wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would have not believed this if it weren\u2019t posted,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>He still arrived at Treadwell Park \u201cjust in case\u201d she showed. <span class=\"credit\">Michael Nagle<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Many blasted the woman\u2019s logic, and assured Zach he \u201cdodged a bullet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpending hundreds of dollars on a girl who can\u2019t spend 15 minutes on a train, can\u2019t communicate that she\u2019d like to be chauffeured everywhere, and calls him ungentlemanly because he didn\u2019t do something that the vast majority of people who live in NYC would find outrageous?
