The change in procedure is designed to \u201creduce the risk of in-flight turbulence injuries\u201d for crew members and passengers, the company said. <\/p>\n<p>For passengers, that means they will need to do the usual pre-landing procedures \u2014 such as ensuring their seatbelts are fastened and returning their seats to an upright position \u2014 earlier than before. <\/p>\n<p>While turbulence-related fatalities are quite rare, <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/business-injuries-national-transportation-safety-board-climate-and-environment-b684a17b8d60f284e8fb68c3b113ecf4\">injuries have piled up<\/a><\/span> over the years.
