Research supported by the agency has led more than 100 Nobel Prizes and has supported <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jama-health-forum\/fullarticle\/2804378\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">more than 99 percent of the drugs approved<\/a> by federal regulators from 2010 to 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">No surprise, then, that the agency has been called \u201cthe crown jewel of the federal government.\u201d But come January, when President-elect Donald J. Trump and congressional Republicans take charge, the N.I.H. may face a reckoning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Robert F.
