The brain disorder robs\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: var(--mol-default-font-family); font-size: 16px;\">sufferers of their memories and independence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">But the researchers said their discovery could be cause for hope.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">They said <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" class=\"class\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-14123683\/wildfire-hotspot-increase-risk-fatal-brain-disease-dementia.html\" rel=\"noopener\">linking Alzheimer&#8217;s risk<\/a> to\u00a0visceral fat levels in people 40s and 50 meant interventions like diet and exercise to slim it down could have a huge impact on dementia decades down the line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Visceral fat, sometimes <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" class=\"class\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-13834243\/Researchers-discover-alarming-risk-belly-fat-women.html\" rel=\"noopener\">responsible for the &#8216;skinny fat&#8217; look<\/a>, differs from <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" class=\"class\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-11481457\/Following-green-Mediterranean-diet-helps-lose-FOUR-TIMES-visceral-fat.html\" rel=\"noopener\">other types of fat<\/a> as it wraps around the organs and, in some, makes little difference to their body mass index (BMI).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">This means that even people who have a healthy BMI can be at risk.
