font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0contained a never-before-seen compound that slowed the growth of <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-14164875\/King-Charles-major-diet-sacrifice-destroy-cancer.html\" rel=\"noopener\">human melanoma<\/a> and ovarian <\/span><a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/cancer\/index.html\" id=\"mol-971ea640-b3dc-11ef-a84f-a1a099d17163\" style=\"font-weight: bold;\" rel=\"noopener\">cancer<\/a><span style=\"font-family: var(--mol-default-font-family); font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0cells.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span style=\"font-family: var(--mol-default-font-family); font-size: 16px;\">As a result of her findings, Camarria has been listed as a co-author on a paper published in the scientific journal ACS Omega.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span style=\"font-family: var(--mol-default-font-family); font-size: 16px;\">She was one of a handful of middle schoolers enrolled on a 14-week science program\u00a0focused on growing antibiotics from bacteria discovered from natural sources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span style=\"font-family: var(--mol-default-font-family); font-size: 16px;\">The children, aged between 11 and 14, chose various things in their environment to sample for bacteria, with their picks including lake water, insects, flowers, a playground slide and event an air conditioning filter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span style=\"font-family: var(--mol-default-font-family); font-size: 16px;\">Altogether, they collected 40 samples and performed over 5,500 tests.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span style=\"font-family: var(--mol-default-font-family); they had been previously discovered.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;It&#8217;s still really exciting for the kids when we tell them that we found an active antibiotic molecule in their sample.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The scientist said that watching the students become more confident over the course of the program was also rewarding.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;I think the most rewarding part for me is seeing the progress as kids became more confident in themselves over time,&#8217;
