Syria\u2019s longtime leader had left the country after holding talks with \u201cseveral parties of the armed conflict,\u201d according to Russia\u2019s Foreign Ministry. It did not say where Mr. al-Assad might be.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Born Ahmed Hussein al-Shara in Saudi Arabia, Mr. al-Jolani is the child of Syrian exiles, according to Arab media reports.
