She had to make the difficult decision to prioritize four of her children over her struggling daughter out of safety concerns.<\/p>\n<h2>The mom kicked her mentally ill 11-year-old daughter out of her home out of concern for her other children&#8217;s safety.\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cI have an 11-year-old daughter who is no longer safe to be around my other children nor to be in my home,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@meggles2446\" rel=\"nofollow\">the mom, Megan<\/a>, vulnerably shared.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love her deeply and so badly wish she could be at my house, but it\u2019s not safe for my other children,&#8221; she continued, &#8220;so I had to make the hard decision and send her to live with her grandmother where she is an only child.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Naturally, viewers were curious after Megan shared this information. She made several subsequent videos to explain the situation further, and in one, addressed her daughter Briley&#8217;s diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe has disruptive dysregulation mood disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, reactive attachment disorder, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/health-wellness\/tiny-subtle-signs-ocd\">obsessive-compulsive disorder<\/a>, generalized anxiety disorder, and impulse control disorder,\u201d Megan detailed.<\/p>\n<p>She also addressed her use of the phrase \u201ckicked out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe my choice of words and how I was explaining things wasn\u2019t put the best,&#8221; she admitted. \u201cI do love my child. I am very actively still in her life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Briley] can\u2019t live in my household because DHS, Department of Human Services, said that she is a danger to my other children and if I don\u2019t place her with someone else safe, that it would be a failure to protect my other children on my end,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd in this situation, I have four other kids to protect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-body-related-links\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/family\/behaviorial-problems-parents-should-never-ignore\">6 Behavioral Problems Parents Should Never, Ever Ignore In Their Kids<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>The mom shared details of her daughter&#8217;s life story.<\/h3>\n<p>The mom&#8217;s TikTok account is chock-full of stories about her family, mainly her daughter Briley. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Megan explained that when Briley was just a baby, she cried constantly, to the point that it got them evicted from their apartment. Briley struggled with sleeping until she was five, when she was able to get on medication to help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy age six, my child had already been put in-patient for hurting her peers, her siblings, her teachers, all of those things,\u201d Megan said. \u201cAnd it didn\u2019t help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Megan was pregnant with her now-3-year-old son, Briley was &#8220;very, very abusive&#8221; to her mother.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She would throw books at my stomach, she would hit me, kick me in my stomach,&#8221; she recounted. &#8220;She was very violent towards me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At this point, Briley stayed with her grandmother occasionally. However, after an incident when Briley hurt her siblings and cousins \u2014 to the point that the police had to be called \u2014 it became a more permanent arrangement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe isn\u2019t better there. She doesn\u2019t act better there,\u201d Megan admitted. \u201cThe only difference is there [aren&#8217;t] <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/family\/types-kids-most-likely-bullies\">kids for her to bully and beat up<\/a> there. But she definitely bullies grandma, but grandpa puts a stop to it real, real fast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-body-related-links\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/family\/lost-my-career-child-mental-health-struggles\">I Lost My Career To My Child&#8217;s Mental Health Struggles \u2014 &#8216;I Had No Choice But To Resign&#8217;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>It isn\u2019t a failure if a parent has to remove their child from their home due to their mental health.<\/h3>\n<p>It would be easy to judge Megan and wonder why she wasn\u2019t capable of handling her own child \u2014 many, many commenters have. However, it isn&#8217;t fair to the struggling mom who is trying to be the best parent possible for <em>all<\/em> of her children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI literally call her every single day. I see her very frequently,\u201d she said of her daughter. \u201cMaybe I wasn&#8217;t the mom that my child needed. But I&#8217;m still here and I&#8217;m still trying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christine Walker, a mom who had to send her son, Schuyler, to a residential treatment program for mental health, <a href=\"https:\/\/namicva.org\/kids-mental-illness-cant-live-home\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">told Central Virginia\u2019s National Alliance on Mental Illness<\/a>, \u201cIf Schuyler had cancer, I would never think of myself as a failure if I didn\u2019t do chemo in my living room. I would never think of myself as giving up. This is a brain disorder.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mental illness should be acknowledged as the health problem that it is, and those who deal with it, directly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/self\/supportive-things-say-someone-struggling-mental-illness\">or as loved ones<\/a>, should not be shamed for it.
