Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gaoll5000a3b5vkj0tkpm1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Combs was indicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and prostitution related charges. Combs pleaded not guilty to the charges and has denied all wrongdoing in roughly 30 civil lawsuits that have been filed against him.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gaoll5000b3b5v6x1eyx5y@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The woman, who is identified as a Jane Doe, says she was 13 years old at the time she was allegedly assaulted by Combs and Carter at an after party following the Video Music Awards in 2000. The woman alleges she began to feel woozy after consuming a drink at the party and wandered into a nearby bedroom. The woman alleges Carter raped her first, followed by Combs. The woman says she hit Combs and ran out of the party, according to the amended lawsuit.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gaoll5000c3b5vbwdj1hwd@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Carter was identified in the initial lawsuit as Celebrity A.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gbhidv00183b5vk0drm9fh@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            News of the lawsuit was first reported by NBC.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gaoll5000d3b5vb19gndj3@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            According to the lawsuit, the Doe\u2019s attorneys reached out to Carter to request \u201ca mediation to resolve this matter.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gaoll5000e3b5vzah1yq6o@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cUpon present information and belief, Jay-Z responded to said letter by not only filing an utterly frivolous lawsuit, but by also orchestrating a conspiracy of harassment, bullying and intimidation against Plaintiff\u2019s lawyers, their families, employees and former associates in an attempt to silence Plaintiff from naming Jay-Z herein. This effort was meant to scare Plaintiff and to discredit her counsel. That effort failed. Indeed, Plaintiff chose to file this amendment as a result of the egregious conduct perpetuated by Carter,\u201d according to the lawsuit.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gan3tx00003b5v3x41kanz@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            In his response sent to CNN on Sunday \u2013 which was addressed to Doe\u2019s attorney \u2013 Carter called the mediation request a \u201cblackmail attempt.\u201d Carter also said this lawyer, \u201cwho I have done a bit of research on, seems to have a pattern of these type of theatrics!\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gb1anr000u3b5voq9wi5ca@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            In a statement from Houston-based attorney Tony Buzbee on Saturday, he wrote, \u201cThe pleading speaks for itself. This is a very serious matter that will be litigated in court.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gawj7p000r3b5vwjiq7sit@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            CNN has also reached out to Jay-Z\u2019s wife Beyonc\u00e9 Knowles for comment.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gbedn300153b5vlw5paide@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Carter added in his statement that his \u201conly heartbreak\u201d is for his family: \u201cMy wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gaoll5000f3b5vkjhstiol@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/11\/19\/entertainment\/sean-diddy-combs-unnamed-celebrity-extortion-lawsuit\/index.html\">reported<\/a> in November that an anonymous male celebrity filed a lawsuit against the Texas attorney representing the Doe alleging  he was the victim of an extortion scheme.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gaoll5000g3b5v8oejv9wc@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The celebrity accused Buzbee and his firm of \u201cshamelessly attempting to extort exorbitant sums from him or else publicly file wildly false horrific allegations against him.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gaoll5000h3b5vzymax1u4@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Attorneys for the unnamed celebrity claimed further the Buzbee had \u201cthreatened to unleash entirely fabricated and salacious allegations of sexual assault\u201d that included \u201cmultiple instances of rape of a minor, both male and female\u201d if their client \u201crefuses to comply with their demands.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gaoll5000i3b5v8itwu3h2@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Buzbee denied the extortion claims against him, in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DChs_cDJOoo\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instagram post<\/a> in which he wrote that his firm \u201cwon\u2019t allow the powerful and their high-dollar lawyers to intimidate or silence sexual assault survivors,\u201d and in a statement to CNN.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gaoll5000j3b5vyrsh5dxj@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cIf you are trying to hide your identity and you claim you did nothing wrong, doesn\u2019t seem very smart to take this approach,\u201d Buzbee told CNN in an email at the time. \u201cWe will address it in due course.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4gaoll5000k3b5vehangl3z@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cI have confidence that with full public disclosure all of this will sort itself out,\u201d Buzbee wrote.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm4ggatta00033b6m22ex4gsc@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            On Sunday, Buzbee responded on social media to Carter\u2019s statement, saying that the alleged victim \u201cnever demanded a penny from him,\u201d claiming they only sought confidential mediation. Buzbee added, \u201cShe is emboldened.
