They are still up 179% so far this year.<!-- HTML_TAG_END --><\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1pe5jgt\"><!-- HTML_TAG_START -->Considered a bellwether for artificial intelligence demand, Nvidia has led the AI sector to become one of the stock market\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/nvidia-ai-507372e976ad788900202eda054b86f4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:biggest companies;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">biggest companies<\/a>, as tech giants spend heavily on the company\u2019s chips and data centers needed to train and operate their AI systems.<!-- HTML_TAG_END --><\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1pe5jgt\"><!-- HTML_TAG_START -->Nvidia&#8217;s shares have surged this year along with the California company&#8217;s revenue and profit due to AI demand. According to data firm FactSet, about 16% of Nvidia&#8217;s revenue comes from China, second only to its U.S.-generated revenue.<!-- HTML_TAG_END --><\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1pe5jgt\"><!-- HTML_TAG_START -->A spokesperson for the company based in Santa Clara, California, said in an emailed statement that Nvidia is \u201chappy to answer any questions regulators may have about our business.\u201d<!-- HTML_TAG_END --><\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1pe5jgt\"><!-- HTML_TAG_START -->In its <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/nvidia-ai-earnings-report-adc942aa0e0c5d1a550b7bad486b942a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:most recent earnings;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">most recent earnings<\/a> release, Nvidia posted revenue of $35.08 billion, up 94% from $18.12 billion a year ago. Nvidia earned $19.31 billion in the quarter, more than double the $9.24 billion it posted in last year\u2019s third quarter. The earnings release did not break out revenue from China.<!-- HTML_TAG_END --><\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1pe5jgt\"><!-- HTML_TAG_START -->The company&#8217;s market value rocketed to $3.5 trillion recently, passing Microsoft and briefly overtaking Apple as the world&#8217;s most valuable company.<!-- HTML_TAG_END --><\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1pe5jgt\"><!-- HTML_TAG_START -->China\u2019s antitrust investigation follows a report this summer by technology news site The Information that the U.S. Justice Department was investigating complaints from rivals that <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/nvidia-antitrust-doj-investigation-information-report-c639cd96cfcf21fec9ea56a40c6f2f15\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Nvidia was abusing its market dominance;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Nvidia was abusing its market dominance<\/a> in the chip sector. The allegations reported include Nvidia threatening to punish those who buy products from both itself and its competitors at the same time.<!-- HTML_TAG_END --><\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1pe5jgt\"><!-- HTML_TAG_START -->David Bieri, an international finance expert at Virginia Tech, said that China\u2019s investigation is \u201cnot about what Nvidia is doing in China, per se\u201d but rather a signal to the incoming Trump administration.
