You can also get a quick briefing of national, regional and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">local weather<\/a> whenever you like with the <a href=\"https:\/\/radio.foxnews.com\/podcast\/fox-weather-update\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FOX Weather Update podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\"><strong>Franklin Fire in Malibu explodes overnight, forces evacuations<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Firefighters in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>California<\/u><\/a> are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/california-wildfire-malibu-los-angeles-franklin-fire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">continuing a relentless assault against a <u>wildfire<\/u> known as the Franklin Fire<\/a>, which exploded in size outside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/california\/los-angeles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Los Angeles<\/u><\/a> late Monday night and sent residents scrambling for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/safety\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>safety<\/u><\/a> as flames devoured the landscape and structures.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The city of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/california\/malibu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Malibu<\/u><\/a> issued mandatory evacuations Monday night and Tuesday morning as officials warned residents of the approaching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wildfire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"featured featured-video video-ct\">\n<div class=\"video-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"info\">\n<div class=\"caption\">\n<p class=\"sub-text\">Firefighters in California are continuing their work to contain and extinguish the Franklin Fire that broke out in Malibu late Monday night.\u00a0FOX 11 Los Angeles Reporter Mario Ramirez was in Malibu early Tuesday morning and spoke with a resident who said it was <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\">Watch: <strong>Franklin Fire forces Pepperdine University students to shelter in place<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">A raging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/wildfires\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>wildfire<\/u><\/a> threatened Pepperdine University on Tuesday morning, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/extreme-weather\/malibu-california-pepperdine-campus-wildfire-evacuations?v1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forcing students to shelter in place as flames charged past the campus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;The university understands the worst of the fire has pushed past Pepperdine,&#8221; university officials said. &#8220;However, there are smaller spot fires on campus that are not threatening life or structures, and fire resources remain on campus to address these spot fires as they occur.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Students and faculty took shelter at the Payson Library and the Tyler Campus Center as the rapidly expanding Franklin Fire was visible from the Malibu campus.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"featured featured-video video-ct\">\n<div class=\"video-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"info\">\n<div class=\"caption\">\n<p class=\"sub-text\">Pepperdine student speaks with FOX 11 Los Angeles as Franklin rages outside of campus.
