{"id":135945,"date":"2024-12-11T21:35:41","date_gmt":"2024-12-11T14:35:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=135945"},"modified":"2024-12-11T21:35:41","modified_gmt":"2024-12-11T14:35:41","slug":"2034-world-cup-fa-set-to-back-controversial-saudi-arabia-bid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=135945","title":{"rendered":"2034 World Cup: FA set to back controversial Saudi Arabia bid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">The Football Association is expected to support Saudi Arabia&#8217;s bid to host the 2034 World Cup and a multi-nation hosting of the 2030 World Cup.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The FA has not officially declared its position but BBC Sport has learned the governing body for English football will back both bids at Wednesday afternoon&#8217;s online Fifa Congress where the tournament hosts will be officially confirmed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The FA is expected to issue a statement after the Congress explaining its stance.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Some senior FA officials are known to have been wary of accusations of hypocrisy if it were not to support Saudi Arabia but then wants England to participate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Saudi Arabia is the sole bidder for the 2034 event, while the 2030 World Cup is set to be awarded to unopposed co-hosts Spain, Morocco and Portugal, with early matches also being played in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">While Saudi Arabia&#8217;s hosting appears to be a formality, the FA&#8217;s support of the nation&#8217;s bid will be controversial, given the kingdom&#8217;s human rights record and discriminatory laws.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Rather than a traditional vote, it has been suggested the ratification process will be confirmed by acclamation &#8211; with federations in favour asked to show their support by applauding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Delegates will have to vote at the same time on both bids, meaning they can either support or oppose both.
