{"id":136030,"date":"2024-12-12T02:46:03","date_gmt":"2024-12-11T19:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=136030"},"modified":"2024-12-12T02:46:03","modified_gmt":"2024-12-11T19:46:03","slug":"the-golden-bachelor-star-gerry-turner-reveals-cancer-diagnosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=136030","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;The Golden Bachelor&#8217; Star Gerry Turner Reveals Cancer Diagnosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/gerry-turner\/\" id=\"auto-tag_gerry-turner_1\" data-tag=\"gerry-turner\">Gerry Turner<\/a>, star of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/abc\/\" id=\"auto-tag_abc_1\" data-tag=\"abc\">ABC<\/a>\u2018s <em>The<\/em> <em>Golden Bachelor<\/em>, is opening up about his cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn an interview with <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/golden-bachelor-gerry-turner-diagnosed-cancer-weeks-before-theresa-nist-split-exclusive-8758677\" target=\"_blank\">People<\/a><\/em> magazine published Wednesday, the 72-year-old reflected on his divorce from\u00a0Theresa Nist, whom he got engaged to on the finale of the <em>Golden Bachelor<\/em> and got married to during a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/golden-bachelor-gerry-turner-theresa-nist-finale-marry-abc-wedding-1235705337\/\">wedding broadcast on ABC<\/a> in January 2024. Just\u00a0three months after getting married, Turner and Nist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/golden-bachelor-divorce-1235872921\/\">announced\u00a0their decision to divorce<\/a>\u00a0during a joint interview on\u00a0<em>Good Morning America<\/em>. Though at the time they cited not being able to settle on a place to live together as the reason, for the first time Turner revealed what else was going on behind the scenes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cAs Theresa and I were trying very hard to find our lifestyle and where we were going to live and how we were going to make our life work, I was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer,\u201d he shared. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAfter getting a shoulder injury while teaching a pickleball class three years prior to going on the show, Turner said it was when he finally got around to going to the doctor for it when he learned his diagnosis. He recalled the orthopedic surgeon saying, \u201c\u2018Yeah, Gerry, there\u2019s not much we can do for your shoulder, but there are some unusual blood markers here.\u2019 And so an orthopedic surgeon went to my family doctor, my family doctor referred me to an oncologist, and now I\u2019m working with a hematology-oncology group in Fort Wayne.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTurner was diagnosed with a slow-growing \u201cbone marrow cancer\u201d called Waldenstr\u00f6m\u2019s macroglobulinemia, he revealed. \u201cUnfortunately, there\u2019s no cure for it. So that weighs heavily in every decision I make,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was like 10 tons of concrete were just dropped on me. And I was a bit in denial for a while, I didn\u2019t want to admit to it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHis oncologists first told him that he had a \u201cblood disorder\u201d but Turner said he \u201cpretty much\u201d knew it would be cancer. After sharing his blood disorder with Nist, Turner underwent additional testing, including a bone marrow biopsy, which is when his diagnosis was confirmed. Turner then said he decided to tell Nist \u201cwhat I knew and I explained the situation to her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cCertainly, it was hard for me. But the conversation was brief and I think [she was] a little bit awestruck by the news. So understandable,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI wanted my life to continue on as normal as possible, and that led me to believing that as normal as possible more meant spending time with my family, my two daughters, my two son-in-laws, my granddaughters,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd the importance of finding the way with Theresa was still there, but it became less of a priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWhen you are hit with that kind of news and the shock wears off after a few days or a few weeks and you regroup and you realize what\u2019s important to you, that\u2019s where you start to move forward,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd I hope that people understand in retrospect now that that had a huge bearing on my decisions and I think probably Theresa\u2019s as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOf the criticism or speculation surrounding their quick separation Turner said, \u201cHopefully they\u2019ll look at things a little bit differently, that maybe it wasn\u2019t quite a rash, fast decision that people thought. That there was something else going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tGoing forward, Turner said he\u2019s going to \u201cpack as much fun as I possibly can into my life and enjoy every moment. And when I\u2019m gone, I\u2019m gone, but I\u2019m not going to have regrets.\u201d He also wished Nist \u201call of the good luck in the world, that she finds everything she wants to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn a separate interview with <em><a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/theresa-nist-says-gerry-turner-cancer-diagnosis-wasnt-what-ended-their-marriage-exclusive-8759414\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">People<\/a><\/em>, Nist recalled being told the news by Turner at the time: \u201cThat\u2019s devastating news, really. I was extremely upset.\u201d She added, \u201cHe told me though, that it was the type of cancer that he would most likely outlive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cHe\u2019s a very positive person and I am too, and I know that he will do the best that he can to make this a positive experience,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I have every faith that is going to work out that way, that it\u2019s going to be the type of cancer that will not affect his life and that he\u2019ll live to be a very healthy old age.\u201d Nist also noted that his diagnosis was not the reason for their split. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cIf that was something on his part, maybe, I don\u2019t know. But no, that didn\u2019t factor into ending the relationship,\u201d she said. \u201cPart of it was the distance, but that wasn\u2019t the only part. That\u2019s really all I will say.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThough they don\u2019t talk often, Nist said of Turner, \u201cI wish him the best and that I know that he was in a very difficult situation and that good things will come to him. And I wish for him a long and healthy, prosperous life, and I hope that he finds his person. I want him to be so happy, and I just wish him all the best of everything in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTurner\u2019s debut as <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/the-golden-bachelor\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-golden-bachelor_1\" data-tag=\"the-golden-bachelor\">The Golden Bachelor<\/a>\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/tv-ratings-thursday-nov-30-2023-1235708069\/\">saw the best ratings for any show in the franchise<\/a>\u00a0since the finale of Matt James\u2019 season of\u00a0<em>The Bachelor<\/em>.
