The temperature drop happens after a day of heavy rain across the region which could create dangerous conditions for the morning commute on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><strong>PITTSBURGH<\/strong> \u2013<strong> <\/strong>After getting drenched this week, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/northeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northeast<\/a> will face a rapid drop in temperatures, creating conditions for flash freezing and making Thursday&#8217;s commute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/fender-bender-alert-winter-driving-season-is-here\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">icy and dangerous<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">On Wednesday, a deluge of rain fell across the Northeast, with high <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-forecast\/current-temperature-map\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">temperatures<\/a> in the 50s and 60s in parts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/new-jersey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Jersey<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/pennsylvania\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pennsylvania<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/connecticut\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Connecticut<\/a>. And all of the water that&#8217;s out there on the roads, the leftover rain, maybe some slush quickly freezes just like that,&#8221; Herrera said. &#8220;And it makes it pretty dangerous, especially for driving and walking. You may step out of your doorway. You&#8217;ve got a little driveway or the sidewalk. It could be frozen over.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">These conditions are possible on Thursday morning in places like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/pennsylvania\/scranton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scranton<\/a>, Pennsylvania, where temperatures are above freezing at bedtime on Wednesday and down to 29 degrees by Thursday morning.
