The feature works as you\u2019d expect: simply enter someone\u2019s phone number and, if it\u2019s registered with WhatsApp, you can call the number right from the app.<\/p>\n<p>The idea, of course, is to make it easier and quicker to call people and businesses without having to add their number to your contacts first. The dialer can be found by tapping the \u201c+\u201d button in the Calls tab in WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p>With this, Meta takes WhatsApp one step closer to becoming a full replacement for Apple\u2019s Phone app. With <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/12\/11\/ios-18-2-release-date-new-features\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">iOS 18.2<\/a>, which was released to the public this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/12\/13\/ios-182-lets-you-set-new-default-iphone-apps-heres-how-it-works\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">users can choose a third-party app as the default for calls and text messages<\/a>. There don\u2019t seem to be any apps that support this feature yet, but it won\u2019t be surprising if WhatsApp adds support soon.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/12\/12\/whatsapp-calls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WhatsApp also announced a series of improvements to WhatsApp calls<\/a>. Meta says it is working to improve the quality of calls, especially video calls \u2013 which will now have a higher resolution.
