Both individuals have exhibited mild symptoms and are recovering, officials said, adding that there are 34 confirmed cases in total across California.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-s3ycb2\">In a warning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/story.php?story_fbid=975625871278462&amp;id=100064931730375&amp;_rdr\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">issued<\/a> on Facebook, health officials said that bird flu is \u201cspreading in some farm animals like poultry and cows\u201d and urged residents to take precautions to prevent the spread of the disease.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-s3ycb2\">The precautions included using protective gear when working with poultry, dairy cows or other animals that could be infected, as well as when handling raw and unpasteurized milk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-s3ycb2\">Suggested protective gear include respirators approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/health\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\">Health<\/a>, goggles or face shields, coveralls, head cover, boots and gloves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-s3ycb2\">Across the country, there are currently a total of 60 confirmed cases of bird flu. Although the majority of the cases are coming from California, other states with confirmed cases include Colorado, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon, Texas and Washington, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/bird-flu\/situation-summary\/index.html\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">according to<\/a> the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-s3ycb2\">Symptoms of bird flu \u2013 which stems from a type of influenza A virus \u2013 include pink eye or conjunctivitis, fever, fatigue, cough, muscle aches, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, stuffy or runny nose as well as shortness of breath.
