Utsumi was asked about how SEGA is ensuring that the Sonic games remain at a high level. Up until more recently, quality of Sonic titles had come into question. SEGA was also pumping out different games fairly quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Utsumi had this to say in response, in which he also briefly commented on Sonic Superstars:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a very good question. We were trying to do something creative with Sonic Frontiers. With Sonic Superstars it turned out to be a disappointment, in terms of the outcome compared to what we delivered. This time we have Sonic X Shadow Generations and the next Sonic movie, so we\u2019re pushing things in the transmedia direction \u2013 movies and games working in harmony to make things bigger. But the core [of the experience] is the game. The game needs to be very good or else there is no transmedia effect.<\/p>\n<p>The Sonic X Shadow Generations game is actually very good, I would say awesome, action-wise. But starting next year, it\u2019s going to be the next level, as you will just see at TGA.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier in the year, SEGA actually <a href=\"https:\/\/nintendoeverything.com\/sonic-superstars-fell-short-of-initial-forecast-sega-points-to-competing-with-other-games-in-the-same-genre\/\"><strong>noted<\/strong><\/a> that Sonic Superstars was \u201cgenerally been well received by those who have played it\u201d, but it fell \u201cshort of the initial forecast\u201d. The company pointed out that the title\u2019s launch \u201ccoincided with competing titles in the same genre\u201d. It released right around the same time as Super Mario Bros. Wonder.<\/p>\n<p>SEGA announced Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for Nintendo Switch this week.
