South Korea&#8217;s <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveBlogArticle-QuoteInBody-3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.KS11\/\">Kospi<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> slipped 1%, while the Kosdaq dropped 0.92%.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese leaders have decided to increase the country&#8217;s budget deficit to 4% of GDP in 2025 in a bid to keep economic growth at around 5% next year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/asia\/china-plans-record-budget-deficit-4-gdp-2025-say-sources-2024-12-17\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters reported<\/a> Tuesday. China&#8217;s CSI 300 traded 1.1% higher, while Hong Kong&#8217;s Hang Seng Index traded around the flatline.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>Overnight in the U.S., the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.IXIC\/\">Nasdaq Composite<\/a> advanced to a record, lifted by a rally in tech. The tech-heavy index gained 1.24% to 20,173.89, while the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.SPX\/\">S&amp;P 500<\/a>\u00a0added 0.38%, closing at 6,074.08. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\">Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a>\u00a0underperformed, losing 110.58 points, or 0.25%, to end at 43,717.48. The 30-stock Dow fell for an eighth day, marking its longest run of losses since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The Fed decision on Dec. 18 stateside will also be top of mind for investors, with the CME Fedwatch tool currently forecasting a 98.2% chance of a 25-basis-points cut.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to the general upward trend, market darling <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveBlogArticle-QuoteInBody-8\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/NVDA\/\">Nvidia<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span>, the artificial intelligence chipmaker that had driven stock gains over the past two years, saw a 1.7% decline.
