{"id":138184,"date":"2024-12-17T22:34:52","date_gmt":"2024-12-17T15:34:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=138184"},"modified":"2024-12-17T22:34:52","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T15:34:52","slug":"trump-files-suit-against-iowa-pollster-ann-selzer-and-des-moines-register-newspaper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=138184","title":{"rendered":"Trump files suit against Iowa pollster Ann Selzer and Des Moines Register newspaper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"\">WASHINGTON \u2014 Donald Trump is suing Ann Selzer, her polling firm, The Des Moines Register and the newspaper&#8217;s parent company, Gannett, accusing them of consumer fraud, according to a copy of the filing reviewed by NBC News.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The suit, filed Monday night in Polk County, Iowa, says it seeks \u201caccountability for brazen election interference\u201d over a Nov. 2 poll that showed Kamala Harris up 3 percentage points in Iowa. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Trump ultimately won the state by double digits, a difference that his lawyers argue in the suit constitutes \u201celection-interfering fiction.\u201d The president-elect is making the claim under the Iowa Consumer Fraud Act, which prohibits deceptive advertising.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;I\u2019m doing this because I feel I have an obligation to. I\u2019m going to be bringing one against the people in Iowa, their newspaper, which had a very, very good pollster who got me right all the time, and then just before the election, she said I was going to lose by 3 or 4  points,&#8221; Trump said in discussing the suit on Monday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Selzer announced after the election<a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/opinion\/columnists\/2024\/11\/17\/ann-selzer-conducts-iowa-poll-ending-election-polling-moving-to-other-opportunities\/76334909007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> that she would stop polling <\/a>political contests and move into other ventures. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Media law experts were skeptical the suit could have much success. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe odds of success here are slim to\u00a0none, but winning in court is not likely the real goal of this lawsuit,&#8221; said Clay Calvert, a media law expert and professor at the University of Florida&#8217;s Levin College of Law. &#8220;The true motivation is to intimidate the press and journalists.\u00a0I unfortunately suspect this lawsuit is just a harbinger of things to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The suit states that \u201cMillions of Americans, including Plaintiff, residents of Iowa, and Iowans who contributed to President Trump\u2019s Campaign and its affiliated entities (the \u201cTrump 2024 Campaign\u201d), were deceived by the doctored Harris Poll\u201d and that the \u201cpolling \u2018miss\u2019 was not an astonishing coincidence \u2014 it was intentional.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It attacks Selzer\u2019s reputation as a standard-bearing pollster, accusing her of attempting to influence political races in favor of Democrats.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Rick Hasen, an election law expert at UCLA School of Law, immediately dismissed the lawsuit. <\/p>\n<p class=\"endmark\">&#8220;I don\u2019t expect this lawsuit to go anywhere,&#8221;
