href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/week-16-new-unc-head-coach-bill-belichick-and-david\/id1584409759?i=1000680633972\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on SiriusXM\u2019s \u201cLet\u2019s Go!\u201d podcast<\/a>, Belichick maintained the Chapel Bill era is here to stay after co-host Jim Gray asked if he\u2019s \u201cleft the door open\u201d to an NFL return based on the buyout clause, a $10 million hit before June 1, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJim, you know I don\u2019t discuss contracts,\u201d the eight-time Super Bowl winner told Gray before adding, \u201c\u2026 I\u2019m here at North Carolina, I want to be at Carolina, and I\u2019m excited about being at Carolina.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/12\/12\/sports\/details-emerge-of-bill-belichicks-contract-at-north-carolina\/\">agreed to a five-year deal<\/a> with the Tar Heels last week and will receive $1 million in base salary and $9 million in supplemental income, which is guaranteed in the first three years, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ralphDrussoATH\/status\/1867317838157144243\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to the term sheet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Should the legendary NFL coach decide to take a U-turn on his latest career endeavor after June 1 in the new year, it\u2019ll only cost him $1 million.<\/p>\n<p>Not that Belichick is plotting a departure \u2014 according to him, anyway.<\/p>\n<p>During Thursday\u2019s introductory press conference in Chapel Hill, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/12\/12\/sports\/bill-belichicks-girlfriend-jordon-hudson-24-attends-unc-intro\/\">where he was joined<\/a> by 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson, the ex-Patriots coach <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/12\/12\/sports\/bill-belichick-makes-nfl-promise-when-asked-about-future-at-unc\/\">told reporters<\/a> he \u201cdidn\u2019t come here to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great to come back home to Carolina and come back home to an environment I grew up in,\u201d said Belichick, whose father Steve was an assistant at UNC from ranks, he did inquire about another opportunity before landing with North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/12\/14\/sports\/bill-belichick-had-interest-in-jets-before-landing-at-north-carolina\/\">Belichick expressed interest<\/a> in the Jets\u2019 head coaching vacancy following Robert Saleh\u2019s firing, a source told The Post\u2019s Brian Costello over the weekend.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter
