Recently, however, she found a new treasure: a message in a bottle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Coker said she often walks along the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/beaches\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beach<\/a> with her two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/pets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dogs<\/a>, Ola \u2013 which means wave in Spanish \u2013 and Nalu \u2013 which means wave in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/hawaii\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hawaiian<\/a>. On Dec. 7, the waves delivered a message in a bottle that sent Coker on an internet investigative journey, which continues today.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><i>&#8220;<\/i>I&#8217;ve never found one before, and I&#8217;ve been here for almost five and a half, six years. I&#8217;ve been walking up and down this beach, 2 miles a day and an hour or more, and I pick up lots of things,&#8221; Coker told FOX Weather.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/earth-space\/bighorn-sheep-airlift-texas-franklin-mountains-state-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>FLOCK OF ENDANGERED SHEEP TAKE HARROWING RIDE TO NEW HOME IN TEXAS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Inside the barnacle-covered Captain Morgan bottle was a brief note on lined paper that read, &#8220;By Angela (23) and Emily (24) from Keewaydin Island. I was like, \u2018What the heck is that smell?\u2019 And it turned out the barnacles were dying. It really smells bad,&#8221; Coker said.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Coker said she&#8217;d never heard of Keewaydin Island but soon learned it was a barrier island like South Padre. Keewaydin Island is a mostly undeveloped island off Southwest Florida between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/florida\/naples\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Naples<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/florida\/marco-island\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marco Island<\/a>, only accessible by boat.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The glass bottle traveled about 1,000 miles in the Gulf of Mexico from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/texas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas<\/a>, making it to Coker&#8217;s beach. However, it was a relatively short journey for a voyage at sea. CLARY\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"sub-text\"><strong> (Getty Images)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">After her Google search results, Coker took to social media to see if she could find Emily and Ashley with very little information to go on.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;On South Padre Island, there are several pages for tourists to come and ask questions or for locals to talk to each other and stuff. I posted it there, and then I thought, well, maybe Naples has the same kind of thing, right?&#8221; Coker said. &#8220;And so I found one, and I posted on it, and, I got a few responses, and then one of my former students from way back in the 90s saw it, and she said, &#8216;I&#8217;m going to put it on TikTok.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/earth-space\/spacex-sixth-starship-test-flight-texas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>STARSHIP TEST FLIGHT SPLASHES DOWN IN INDIAN OCEAN AFTER SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH FROM TEXAS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Nearly two weeks later, Coker still hasn&#8217;t been able to use the power of social media to find the people who sent the bottle, but she hasn&#8217;t given up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Coker will continue the bottle&#8217;s journey, but with a few changes, to hopefully hear back from its next recipient. She&#8217;s adding her own message in both English and Spanish, along with her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/cokersmovies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Instagram handle<\/a>. Coker plans to wait for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/what-is-a-king-tide-perigean-spring-tide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">King Tide<\/a> or good conditions to walk out into the jetties and through it back into the Gulf. What happens next is up to the sea.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hopefully, somebody else will find it. And I mean, it could just end up right back on my beach, or it could just end up like 6 miles from here down the beach.
