He was 66. <\/p>\n<p>Murphey\u2019s family confirmed his passing in a statement on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DDum23Iy4UY\/?igsh=MXN4b3dteWY5bjZ5NQ%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his Instagram page <\/a>Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are deeply saddened to announce that David Murphey, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away at home on December 11, 2024 after experiencing health issues over the last several years. He was 66 years old,\u201d the family wrote. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>David Murphey on \u201c90 Day Fianc\u00e9.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">TLC<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cDavid was a veteran, small business owner, and software engineer,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cHe had recently retired from the Clark County Treasurer\u2019s office in Nevada, having also worked for H&amp;R Block and IGT.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Murphey\u2019s family said that his experience on<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/02\/19\/meet-the-first-ever-same-sex-couple-on-90-day-fiance\/\"> Season 4 of \u201c90 Day Fianc\u00e9: Before the 90 Days\u201d <\/a>that aired in 2020 \u201callowed him to connect with viewers, see the world, and share his experiences with his thousands of followers on Instagram.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cHe will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans. David has survived by his two sisters and his cat Gamera. The family asked for privacy during this difficult time,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>David Murphey on \u201c90 Day Fianc\u00e9.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/David Murphey<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At the end of the message, Murphey\u2019s loved ones noted the late star \u201chad a fierce love for cats\u201d and \u201calways made an effort to adopt cats and give them a good loving home.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The family told fans that they can donate to <a href=\"https:\/\/animalfoundation.com\/\">The Animal Foundation<\/a> in his honor.<\/p>\n<p>Murphey appeared on the fourth season of the \u201c90 Day Fianc\u00e9\u201d spinoff that follows couples whose relationships begin online and documents their first in-person meetings. <\/p>\n<p>The Las Vegas native had a relationship with Lana, who he met on a Ukrainian dating website. They met in-person on Murphey\u2019s fifth visit to Ukraine, and they later got engaged. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>David Murphey and Lana. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/David Murphey<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, Murphey and Lana eventually broke up.<\/p>\n<p>Murphey<a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/90-day-fiance-david-finally-reveals-why-he-broke-up-with-lana-182374\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> discussed the split <\/a>on an episode of \u201c90 Day Diaries\u201d that aired in April 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe thought that, \u2018Well, now that we\u2019re engaged, now you can help me do the things that you promised,\u2019\u00a0like, get her some English lessons, actually move her into an apartment,\u201d he told his friend Jim.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>David Murphey and Lana. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/David Murphey<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBut part of my conditions for doing that was to get her off the [dating]\u00a0website and she didn\u2019t get off the websites, so I didn\u2019t offer any of those bonuses, so four months into our engagement, we just stopped communicating,\u201d Murphey added.<\/p>\n<p>He also revealed on the episode that he was chatting with a woman named Olga from Ukraine on a dating site.<\/p>\n<p>After Murphey and Lana\u2019s split, he sparked dating rumors with another one of his co-stars, Amira Lollysa.
