The singer\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/billie-eilish-hit-me-hard-and-soft-mental-health-fame-1235003585\/\">Hit Me Hard and Soft<\/a><\/em> was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/spotify-wrapped-2024-women-most-streamed-albums-taylor-swift-1235191366\/\">second most-streamed album on Spotify<\/a> this year, while the LP\u2019s \u201cBirds of a Feather\u201d\u00a0was the third most streamed track. The song, released in July, has received\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/grammy-nominations-2025-list-1235156923\/\">2025 Grammy nominations<\/a>\u00a0for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve done nothing but make friends all year, and gotten so close with people that I wasn\u2019t with before, and became friends with people I used to be friends with again,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s just been a year filled with friendship,\u201d Eilish smiles, before adding: \u201cAnd yes, I\u2019ve had a lot of good sex. So you\u2019re welcome, Billie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tDuring an interview with <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/billie-eilish-hit-me-hard-and-soft-mental-health-fame-1235003585\/\">Rolling Stone <\/a><\/em>published in April, Eilish discussed the sexual nature of her track \u201cLunch,\u201d and her 2023 interview with <em>Variety<\/em> last fall, when she mentioned she was attracted to women.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cThat song was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real,\u201d Eilish said at the time. \u201cI wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl, and then wrote the rest after.\u201d She added, \u201cI was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years. It\u2019s really frustrating to me that it came up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tA month after the <em>Variety<\/em> interview, Eilish attended\u00a0the publication\u2019s Hitmakers event and while on the red carpet, a reporter asked her if intentionally came out in the story. \u201cNo, I didn\u2019t,\u201d Eilish replied. \u201cBut I kind of thought, \u2018Wasn\u2019t it obvious?\u2019\u201d Later, the singer posted about the exchange on Instagram, writing in a caption: \u201cThanks Variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 a.m. instead of talking about anything else that matters. Nobody should be pressured into being one thing or the other.\u201d She continued, \u201cIt takes a while to find yourself, and I think it\u2019s really unfair, the way that the internet bullies you into talking about who you are and what you are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tElsewhere in her <em>Vanity Fair <\/em>video, Eilish watches an old clip of herself saying she no longer wanted to let people take away her \u201csparkle.\u201d Looking back at the moment, Eilish reflects: \u201cI really trust myself, and I think, like, especially that 2022 girl, I don\u2019t think I trusted her.
